2004 to 2017 Facelift

Well it's still a work in progress but what do you think? Personally I love the 2017 lights on my truck. Got the DRLs, leds and turn signals all working. The drivers side fender is almost done, I spray painted it until it's all finished then I have a gallon of white I'm going to repaint the entire truck with.

I'm not mad at it. Actually I think it will look pretty good when finished.

Thanks, Here is another picture i took while I was working on it. Taped some cardboard in place to have a better idea how the gaps will look. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but at night these lights look awesome.

Lights look good.
How well do they actually work at night? I'm only asking because I've read several articles about how the new truck (both the Colly\Canyon twins and the Full size) headlights suck for driving.

I have seen the same claim about the lighting on the 700's...
I have zero complaints about the lights on my Colorado....

Thanks guys, it's been raining like crazy here so I haven't had the opportunity to work on it much. I'm hoping to finish it on the weekend, I have all my pieces of metal cut and bent, I'll just have to weld them on and do the body work then prime everything. Well to be honest I think the light output is the same, I made my own retrofits prior to these ones using the '15 sierra dual beam projectors and led projectors for the drls in the OEM housings. It's the exact same light output with the low beam. But the new canyon has a single beam projector and a separate high beam reflector so the high beam is brighter than before. On the 15 sierras there is a motor that opens a flap inside the projector to allow light past the lens cutoff when you use your highbeam so both hi and low use the same single filiment bulb. The clean lens cutoff is the most noticeable difference from going from oem to these or my old retro fits. The oem reflector would blind people if I decide to go led. But since I have the clean light cutoff, I can use a brighter bulb without blinding everyone on the road.

@Tweek .. Thanks for the info. I haven't had any experience with one.

On a separate note, I changed my lows recently using the Silverstar Ultras and almost everyone is flashing me after dark. I like them as I can actually see the sides of the road. They are set properly otherwise. Due to lack of failure, I am still running the factory Hi-beam bulbs and you can tell when they are on as they add a yellowish cast to the lights.

No problem !!!
I also run Silver star ultras in the 355... I get flashing by oncoming traffics also... That's when I show them the headlight mod... LOL When they get all four at once and hit their dims pronto... LOL The silver Stars are super bright !!! They will replace the OEM 700 bulbs when one of them fails.

Here's a couple more pictures I had an hour at the end of work to mess with it. I got the plastic filler under the light to butt up against the fender better. There is no more gap. I used the rubber seal from a set of bushwhacker fender flares on the edge of the fender and hood. You can see it pulled off in one of the pictures. I will have it all in primer sometime this weekend.

Oh and I was going to keep it a secret, but I guess I'll share.

My bumper is a jeep bumper, and only cost 180 brand new.
