Scosche GM 2000

I recently purchased a Pioneer DEH-P590IB. Then I realized that I would lose my factory chimes and warnings, so I bought this at Wal-Mart today for 40 bucks.

Walmart.com: Scosche GM2000 Class II Car Stereo Replacement Interface Module and Harness: Auto Electronics

My question is for those who have purchased this unit. What chimes do I get and what differences do I need to expect from the factory setup? Is this interface reliable? Anything I need to know? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Scosche GM 2000

It's not reliable.

I used the GM2000 to install Ron - The Wolf!'s Pioneer D3 and it lasted maybe a year.

The chimes come from the harness adapter's speaker.

well I guess for 40 bucks you kinda get what you pay for in today's market. I just cant justify spending more than that just to retain some bells. If it craps out then I will simply replace it I guess.

Re: Scosche GM 2000

i dont like anything Scoshe personally. I used to work at an audioshop and we used PAC, Metra, American Installers.

Any time someone brought us anything scoshe it seemed to stop working or break while we were installing it

I"ll agree with that we always have had problems with scosche stuff. Also you can buy the correct metra harness on ebay for $40 shipped.

Re: Scosche GM 2000

Ive had it for close to a year and never had any problems. The dinger comes from a speaker box on the harness... I find it loud / annoying so I wrapped tape around it to quiet it down. I still like to be able to hear it but its TOO loud.

I did the same thing as well!

Re: Scosche GM 2000

The one that crutchfield sent me came with a spot on the circuit board that you can cut to lower the speaker volume. I love it you can just barely hear the chime, but it's just loud enough to hear.

Re: Scosche GM 2000

You can change the volume on the Scosche one as well... the directions are in the box. I think you adjust it with the panel lighting knob.

There is a wire you cut - and I did that - but its still annoyingly loud.

GMOS or GMRC are the two harness adaptors you need to be look into. Not Scosche.

Very nice - thank you for that - have found some. Next question is ... they say non Bose (which I am) and Non OnStar. I have the OnStar but don't ever plan to use it. Do I need OnStar adapter or I can disregard as I won't use anyway? Thanks

Re: Scosche GM 2000

If you are not going to use the Onstar, you can simply not connect it. Honestly I'm not even sure how it connects.

The products I listed above have a -01 and -02 option. I think the -02 options are for Onstar. Just in case you wanted to purchase it even if it's not currently being used. Check the information though, I may be incorrect regarding what the -02 is for.
