custom kick panel

im thinkin about possibly makin custom kick panels out of fiberglass for some 6.5 componets. has this been done before and where would i mount the tweeter for the best possible sound? in the stock location. could i run a set of 6.5s in the stock location as well as in the kick panel?

Re: custom kick panel

A guy in TX made a set of a 4" midrange. The kicks don't have alot of room. The speakers would have to be fairly thin in order to keep any usable space.

Re: custom kick panel

i would just say screw it and do glassed door pods. im running 3 6.5's in each door, still in a ghetto fab mdf install but im planning to glass them eventually, i couldn't deal with losing floor space for kicks, our trucks are already cramped

Could be done... Remember seeing one person mount a tweeter into the A-pillar.

Re: custom kick panel

It would be neat if you could get them in there without kicking them all the time

Re: custom kick panel

undead could you post a picture showing your door panel, sounds really interseting, i thought about doing the saem but it just seems that it would be hard to as just the way they are made. yeah i know what you mean, thats the one bad thing about these trucks is the crampedness, eh but its a mid size what else do you expect, and worse yet i got an ext compared to your cc

Re: custom kick panel

i considered putting some 3.5 or 4's in the a pillars, but i havve a set of 6.5s laying around and thought why not find a way to put them in my truck. also got a set of 6x9's maybe when time allows i could fiberglass them into the rear dorss in place of that little cubby hole thing.

Re: custom kick panel

If you used a set of door panels from a non-power door, you could easily get two sets of components in the doors.

Re: custom kick panel

there are pics of mine in the audio gallery on cfans, im on my phone so attaching is a pain. its nothing show quality but if you can work with fiberglass you could do something a lot cleaner. i think mxman had 3.5's in the a-pillars so u could ask him on that

Re: custom kick panel

yeah i lplayed with the idea a little more and held the speaker down there, and there really isnt enough room. so i had a few speaker grill layin around and i taped them to the door panel, then drew up a possible design with fiberglass. i will scan it to the computer and post it up in a bit.
