Speaker boxes for crew cabs

Anyone know of any options for installing a sub under the back seat in a crew cab? I need to keep seating for three, but need to add some bass to improve the tunes.

Re: Speaker boxes for crew cabs

i just bought the one off of onlinecarstereo.com. havent installed it yet but two 10"s will fit. Ground Shaker CFD210 Vehicle Specific Enclosures at Onlinecarstereo.com
I'll post up some pics once i have it in. i believe most people raise the rear seats to fit boxes without the subs hitting the underside of the seat.

Re: Speaker boxes for crew cabs

Are these boxes for the shallow mount subwoofers? What are you gonna use in yours? Do you you plan on jacking up the seat? What does this involve and can this be added without messing with the seat/

Re: Speaker boxes for crew cabs

I know some people have raised the seat and then afterwards said it really wasn't even notocable height difference, that being said I think you'd have to go shallow mount Idk though

Re: Speaker boxes for crew cabs

I'm in the process of intalling mine now. I believe all the subs that go under the seat have to be thin subs unless you buy the boxes that stick out from underneath the seat. I have planet audio 10" subs that fit perfectly in the box I posted before. The box contours to the floor of the truck so I dont think you have to raise the seat at all unless you buy a different type of box. I will post a pic once I'm done installing.

Re: Speaker boxes for crew cabs

Just finished up fabbing one myself. Still need to sand down all the joints, carpet it, and install speaker grill in place of those temporary girders. If you have all the tools to do it yourself, I could send you all the dimensions I used.

I was able to get 4.4" mounting depth and 0.570 cubic foot of air space (if the particular sub your using needs more, you can add poly-fil to supplement). Pictured is a JL Audio 10w1v2. It's not a slim sub but still one of the more compact subs. It doesn't have a vent at the end of the magnet enabling it to be mounted directly against the bottom of the box.

Used washers to raise seat and bent the mounting bar up so that seat backs would still lock back. PM me if you go this route and have questions

MTX makes a Thunderform that works well if you have the skrilla to just buy one.

Re: Speaker boxes for crew cabs

I have a box that I bought online that holds 2 10" shallow mount subs that goes under the backseat. I had to raise the seat a little but it's not by much and you can't even notice. You will need speaker grills so when you sit on the backseat, it doesn't hurt the subs.
