Hey, I know I'm going to catch flak for this, but I blew my rear driver side speaker in my crew cab. I don't have the $$ for great speakers, nor do I need them. I'm looking for a set of components in the price range of $50-$60. I've been to best buy and they didn't have anything worthwhile. I don't have subs, and have a stock headunit. I was told component speakers are the way to go when replacing, but if you have other opinions let me know. You guys have any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com App

You can buy stock replacements for that cost from the dealer, I think they are about $25 a piece. Bargain! since you only need one, and you can buy just one. If you're going on the cheap for a pair, you don't have too many options. Go to Crutchfield to see what they offer for replacements for that cost. At least you get the free wire pieces and such included. You may have to do some custom fab work to get them to fit. The higher end models have adaptor rings to fit, but you won't find them boxed in with the cheap set. By the way, you probably won't find components for $50 unless you catch a killer sale. Too many parts to sell anything of quality for that cheap. The tweeters are larger as a component than they are as a coaxial. Plus you have a crossover included. Anyting bottom line is bottom line. If they are truly the $100 retail priced set they should be fine. Don't be sold on the name though. Everybody makes junk and puts their name on it. I used to ride a Mongoose BMX bike, now you can buy Mongoose at Walmart and break it before you leave the store. Just as an example. Look up that part number at other retailers and see if they charge $100...if everybody sells them for $60 then it's probably not a $100 speaker. |

Amazon usually has good deals as well. I rarely buy from electronic/audio shops up here, they never go below MSRP. I'll go to Amazon & can typically find them for cheaper there... and most often free shipping.

Just find something with a low RMS requirement. Your stock HU has about 8watts, so anything that takes a lot of RMS won't sound AS good as they could. And prepare to loose most of your bass response.

Question: If I wanted to put an aftermarket HU in, can you keep OnStar and chime? Pretty sure I read you need a harness, but I don't remember entirely. How much are the harnesses? Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com App
