I looked it up on napa and they are now 11.73" rotors, probably for the v8 option but not sure.

Re: Anyone upgrade to the 09 bigger front disks?

Well if thats the case, I dont think GM changed the hub/spindle. So with that said, the rotors and calipers should be interchangeable.

I will need to make some calls on this one to confirm though.

Re: Anyone upgrade to the 09 bigger front disks?

think its true.

im reading a motortrend article now

2009 Chevy Colorado - Official Press Release - First Look - Motor Trend

New for 2009
In addition to the new 5.3L V-8 and improved fuel economy for models with the 2.9L and 3.7L engines, the '09 Colorado lineup includes a host of new features and revisions, including:
* New brake system - All Colorado models receive a new brake system that delivers greater stopping power and an improved brake pedal feel. The system features four-channel ABS with yaw control for flatter, more controlled stopping during panic stops and improved control on slippery surfaces

but it doesnt say anythign about the size of the actual rotors.

Neat, they fixed the shitty ABS that kicks in prematurely.

If you put bigger rotors on , what will the effect be if you don't change anything else ?
The larger tire trucks have a rotor/ heat problem . My S-10 stopped a lot better than the Canyon .

Re: Anyone upgrade to the 09 bigger front disks?

I believe that they changed other things though. Wasnt there a guy having lift issues? Something about they changed where the ABS sensor sits now, and it makes it not compatible with the old stuff?

Re: Anyone upgrade to the 09 bigger front disks?

The real question though was can you put 09 rotors & calipers on 08 and lower trucks. Can some confirm/deny the abs issue?

So, there aren't any suspension lifts for the '09 Canyon with the V8.

Re: Anyone upgrade to the 09 bigger front disks?

but the real question is does .7 of a inch in diameter make that big of a difference? cause i looked up the spec on a 05 and its 11 inchs in diameter

I don't know if .7 of an inch will make a big difference, but bigger rotors increase stopping power by giving the brake pad more material to bite into. As far as the ABS kicking in to early, haven't had a problem. I practice thresh hold braking and has saved my bacon a time or two.

So what driving schools have you been to??

I've been to ITI and NEK Advanced Securities Group; nothing like getting paid to drive and shoot!
