Re: Anybody install a snow plow?

Yup, I have installed a Snowbear, plow on my truck. On mine there is a switch in cab, push switch up blade goes up , etc... I personally dont believe using my truck as a work horse will kill it (as long as maintenance, and care are practiced) but time will tell.

Re: Anybody install a snow plow?

Had this Snow Bear on 4 trucks now, never had an issue truck related ever, I plow only for family and friends. Plow like you're the guy who pays for parts, and keep up on maintenance and you will never have an issue. Also I minimize the time my front end is supporting the weight, by only keeping it on when travelling to a plowing location.
It beats a shovel anyday.

Re: Anybody install a snow plow?

Sams Club sells one in the club here, it is $999.00. you buy the plow and then the company sends you the kit specific for your truck, it looks pretty hefty.

Sam's Club - Snowplow Scraper Blade - 7 ft.

Re: Anybody install a snow plow?

2wd here. Wouldnt do me much good to have a plow on mine. My truck will soon be able to plow snow when I bag it and shove snow with my SS Gen2 bumper :-D

Re: Anybody install a snow plow?

Have been away on course for a few days, Thanks for the pic posting help.
I bought my plow at Wal Mart 11-12 years ago. Not plugging for the company, but I have had this plow on 3 trucks now, and have lived in some of the more Northern regions of Canada and have plowed a lot of snow with it.The only issue is to keep some sort of dialectic grease on the contacts to prevent coorsion of the connectors in the more salty climates. I seem to gain more friends in the winter when you have a plow though.
Mine is a Pro Shovel model that is manufactured by Snow Bear here in Canada, I am fairly certain they manufacture them under many names for private brands. I have never had a breakage issue on any truck with this plow, as I plow with enough care not to overstress my equiptment. Plus one huge additonal factor for me is my little boys love to operate the up and down control. And we get to spend some quality time together.

Re: Anybody install a snow plow?

My truck is 2 wheel drive, I have a posi diff though, and 900 pounds of sand bag's in box ... and 60 pounds of air in the air bags so it dont ride on the bump stops. If the snow is real heavy (or just to much ice) I chain up, and the truck can blast through the snow. Its actually alot of fun shoving a driveway or parking lot with a plow (not that I'd offer to do it with a shovel) beats having a heart attack with a shovel all to hell.....
