I am staring to experience the same problem as alot of Chevrolet owners with the Ignition switch or something going bad. My colorado has about 58000 miles on it and a few months ago i got stranded at a gas station for around 10 minutes. Didnt have that problem again for a while but now its happening more frequently. From what i have read its something to do with the switch sending a bad code to passlock whick locks the fuel system. Contacted dealer and they want 400 dollars to fix this. Have any of you had any luck with Chevrolet fixing this with warranty expired? Is this a possible future recall? I have complained to Chevy and they assigned the district specialist to my issue but i know that wont get far. Normally i would let it go and pay for the fix but since so many people are having this problem i figured i would be the squeaky wheel. Just curious... Also, i have a remote start system that needs to be installed now but i need to order the bypass module so i can install everything. If i were to install the bypass module would it resolve the bad ignition switch issue i am having? In otherwords, i would have to start truck remotely each time and put key in and turn to on position and be on my merry way. If that wont work, is there a tuner system that will disable passlock all together so it wont happen again? Thanks for any input. |

Had the same problem on my 02 Camaro. Dealership said it was the ignition switch relay, and I think with labor it was only like $57 for me. Bypass wouldn't fix a relay going out if that is indeed the problem

My 2010 did it with 3,000 miles on it. Left it sitting there for 10 minutes and after that it started. Never did go to the dealership at the time.

I would recommend you have them to take a look at it. It starts off as a small problem but it becomes more frequent. let them fix before warranty runs out!! anyone have ideas to bypass this problem? | |

I had the same problem on my first Colorado. After months of taking the truck to the dealer they were finally able to get it to malfunction and they said it was the ignition switch. They replaced the switch and about a week later it started doing it again. Then I got into an accident and the truck was totaled. My new truck does not have the problem (knock on wood).
