Re: installing fog lights

I would suggest you go to the junk yard and clip the plugs off of another Colorado and hard wire them on a switch.

Re: installing fog lights

I went to advance auto and got some 9005 bulb connectors (real cheap) and then tapped it into my radio. The reason I tapped I into my radio is because I wanted to make sure that if I left the switch on, the fogs still turned off when I turned the truck off. All the materials to do this cost me around $20 I think.

Just trying to help

Re: installing fog lights

IF you just want them goin on n off with teh DRL's all you have to do is tie them into it man. Simple as that. Then run a ground wire from them to the frame. They will turn on n off with teh drl's that way. IF you want a switch, then you will need to run a single hot wire from the battery to the cab. Then run a wire from the cab to the lights. You can run both lights off one 14awg wire. Now, after you do that, wire a ground wire close to the lights, and your done. Make sure you insatll a fuse as close to the battery as you can to protect ALL your wiring. have any issues bro, you know my number...

The switch is gonna have two or three terminal's or more depending on how many things you want it to run bro...if you want it coming on n off with teh drl's lik eyou said, then you wont even need a switch at all.

Re: installing fog lights

I personally would not put all of that extra load on the DRL circut. You'll want to use a standard bosch style relay for this. I don't have a relay in front of me to look at, at the moment, and I don't remember off the top of my head which terminal is which on the relay, to tell you how to wire it up, but when I get home I can give you the whole rundown on it.

Re: installing fog lights

Tom you are correct, he is looking at the drl plug. It has three wires: + for running and blinker and a common - if I remember correctly, but it could be the other way around. The plug for the 9005 will only have two wires, a + and a -.
