Rep Power: 0 ![]() | List of parts needed for V8 swap... First of all ofcourse you need your LSX based engine and I recomend you just get a doner tranny as well. However much you can get that for is totally up to you. I recomend you get a motor that has everything on it which by that I mean like the coils, compressor, starter, alternator, pretty much all your accesserios so you dont have to buy everything seperate and new which will cost more money. If you would like any aftermarket parts that would be all up to you on the prices and stuff. You will need to contact current performance so they can build you a Custom harness-$950. Custom motor mounts-$150. You need Trailblazer 5.3(2006) pcm and tcm bought both for-$300. You also need the gas pedal from the trailblazer 5.3 -$90. Modified ignition switch from current as well-$125 E-fans are very recomended-$100. LS1 style fit perfect. Also need 2 LS2 knock sensors -$10.00 for each You will need the heater hoses as well for a 5.3 chevy truck-$30.00 The rest will probably be just labor. These parts are the most important and most expensive that you need after all this is done and installed. You will need a bunch of little hoses and wires and I believe fuel lines as well. You will also need for somebody to Tune it with HP tuners, current performance can do it for you as well. Here are the parts that you can and cant reuse with the V8. You can use the stock radiator it seems to be working fine with the fans helping it out. You can use your stock A/C lines just someone will have to modify them a bit. You can use your stock driveshaft fit's perfect. Like 1/2inch shorter no prob. The stock rear end seems to be holding up pretty good still ![]() You can use your stock power steering lines but since the power steering from the V8 will be in the opposite side you will need to shorten them, better to have them custom made instead. I dont know why people say this swap takes allot of $$$ and time when it's just a simple swap since the harness from current performance is just a plug and play real bad assss and everything works. Im sure im missing little stuff here and there so if your going to do the swap hit me up and ill be more then glad to help you out. BTW I wasted not counting the performance parts that I got for my truck just regular swap and all that was like ....$4700 on everything besides the the performance parts and im including labor already. BTW if you guys are willing to do the swap and willing to drive to Edinburg TX the shop where I did mine are more then willing to help you all out and do the work for ya. I think this is it I need to upload pics of the swap but im too lazy to go get the camera from the shop lol. Like I said hit me up and ill be more then glad to help you out with whatever problems you are having or whatever. I would like to thank currentperformance -jared for an awesome job and for helping me out whenever we got stuck with the swap thanks man and I recomend him to everyone cool guy to work with. Also like to thank XHRCUSTOMS for giving me his # and letting me call him to ask for more info on the swap and helping me out thanks man. Also LS1blazer for your info as well thanks allot man. Finally I would like to thank Xessive Motorsports where (TALK IS CHEAP LET"S RACE) is their model. They did an awesome job. (956)384-9200 that is there # if anyone is interested on a price range.

| drive slow homie | Re: List of parts needed for V8 swap... I just ask because in 08 they switched PCM's in the colorados so a new pcm/tcm may not be needed.

| New To The Nation | Re: List of parts needed for V8 swap... An 06 ECM from a TrailBlazer would be an E40 ECM. Sounds like a sick swap man, I would love to get a Coly and drop like a 427 LS2 into it. Ultimate sleeper for sure. But, if Im about to drop around 10-15K for a Coly + 5 (well prob 8-9 with the LS2) Id rather just get a VW GTI and make it crazy fast. Yea its not as unique, but crap they get 30+ on the hwy.

| mors vincit omnia | Re: List of parts needed for V8 swap... good job man. Thats an awesome truck. I think im goin with a turbo but when i blow the 5 banger i'll do this. It seems like it actually came together quite fast. How long exactly did it take? |

| New To The Nation | Re: List of parts needed for V8 swap... I hear ya for sure man, but Im 19 and in college so I need a reliable (fast) car. My TrailBlazer has been an awesome first truck, but Ive got 97K on it now with no problems (knock on wood). Im a little hesitant turboing an almost 7 year old engine... But my TB sounds pretty sick right now with the Magnaflow dual catback, the Ix motors make such a different sound than the Vx motors and it turns heads. Plus I can throw my boat on the back and yank it around to the lake and back. But, I cant afford gas right now (kinda an oxymoron if Im looking to buy a 25+ thousand car right?) and I want something smaller, faster, and more efficient. Id love to get a Coly with the V8 and ZQ8 (whenever GM releases them), but I think that'd cost me about the same as a GTI and still be slower...I dont know, time will tell my friend, time will tell. Im still envisioning having the first turboed I6 using 100% GM electronics but I doubt it will happen.

Why do you need to swap the gas pedal? And what is the ignition modification for?

different pedal for different throttle body...DBW I think the stock colorado ignition doesn't send a start signal straight to the ecu...so you need this modified switch or a push button start.
