And higher stall speed would help quite a bit with spooling the turbo. I also suggest running ethanol or methanol. Save you the huge fabrication hassle of bringing the drivetrain from the Silverado to the Colorado.

It's already being started, and I have other reasons for doing it. I am going to do the bigger turbo(8?mm) on this truck, and it will be stupid turned up. I have a 3k stall speed now, and it was plenty high enough for me. Except for from a dig with no brake boosting, it comes on pretty instantly. I'm going with a good a2w intercooler this time around, not because it's needed, but it will take a lot less room, and as a plus will be better than my a2a. I've figured out the drivetrain, it took me a while, but I found a front diff that will fit, and be strong enough to take whatever I throw at it. It actually won't take much fab work to get it in, because the mounts aren't very different.

Are you doing a link style suspension setup in the front?

Re: 4x4 6.0L/4L80e with a front mount turbo

No, just changing out the diff, and having axle shafts made to fit. Probably bigger tie rods, and strapping the front down at the track.

Sounds like you have a plan, and if you don't know how, you know the people to do it. Seriously looking forward to seeing what you come up with! Seeing those pics of burst front axles on 3.7s is kind of scary, I really hope my 5.3 doesn't split one like that on me.

No kidding? I've been toying around with the idea of a 6L80 swap, if I could figure it out, once my warranty or 4L60 blows up. LOL

The bolt pattern isn't symmetrical, so you can't just flip it. I found an old gasket in my basement and measured. It's not off by much, but it is off.

I ordered my CP harness yesterday. Jared knows what he's talking about. 6 weeks out sucks though.

Re: 4x4 6.0L/4L80e with a front mount turbo

Still waiting on my harness, and pistons. Diamond only stock 4.030 pistons, but I didn't want to go that far. I have to wait on the harness anyways, so I had them make me some 4.010 with the top ring down a bit. They should be here this week, so I should be putting the engine together in the next week or 2.

Re: 4x4 6.0L/4L80e with a front mount turbo

Nice, Glad its still coming together. Going to have to hurry to make the lsx dyno day in may . Still waiting on getting my truck back from stainless works. They have a couple sets done but waiting for feedback from CPW to see if it fits on their trucks too before I get mine back. CPW still has my harness too. Geez its only been over 2 months.

Re: 4x4 6.0L/4L80e with a front mount turbo

I might get it together by the dynoday, but I doubt it. I just now found a 4L80e that is low miles enough to put back in my old truck, so I pretty much have 2 projects right now. The old truck won't take long, but there will be some fab work on the Colorado.

Re: 4x4 6.0L/4L80e with a front mount turbo

Nice, once I get my truck back I still have to rip out the interior to complete the auto swap, redo the front half of the exhaust to meet the new longtubes, do the ac box delete redo the crossmember notch since the new one came out too close for comfort, and a list of other stuff to get the truck back together. Highly doubt itll be running by dyno day.

Re: 4x4 6.0L/4L80e with a front mount turbo

Ok guys, it's getting close. Whats the deal with the firewall, and how much is in the road? Is it just the truck intake that's a problem, and is it just the rib that runs across it?

Re: 4x4 6.0L/4L80e with a front mount turbo

Well, the machine shop called with some bad news yesterday. My heads have little cracks between the valve seats, that everyone missed, including me, until they were being torn down to replace the seats.

These are the heads in the picture that I have, so I'm getting a bare set, and re-using my valves, and I already bought dual spring kit with titanium retainers, and seals.
http://www.proheads.com/WCCH%206.0L.html

My piston finally came in, but I only snapped a couple quick pics, as I was dropping them off at the machine shop the other day. They are 4.010, with the top ring lowered, so they are a "custom", I guess that was the hold up. My new LS2 crank is already balanced today, and I got to see it being polished.

This is the intake f-body guys like because it fits, and it flows well. I think this is what I'm going with, instead of spending all the time, and money finding f-body/corvette accessories.

Re: 4x4 6.0L/4L80e with a front mount turbo

The truck intake fits with minimal massaging. That pinch weld needs to be knocked down and in just a touch in a little section like 2-3 inches.

The 4l80 fits with zero mods to the tunnel

Re: 4x4 6.0L/4L80e with a front mount turbo

I always wanted to get an intake when this was in my silverado, but never had a good excuse to.

Do you know how much power your truck is making, if you don't mind me asking? I'm wondering what WG spring to go with. I have 6/8/10lb springs, with an electronic boost controller, so I can go up from there. I'm wondering what would be a good whp to dd this thing with. I had the 8lb (actually 8.5-9psi) spring in it before, and it made around 420whp, but it should make a little more this time around.

Non right now. My million mole junkyard 5.3 had an oiling issue and washed a cam lobe off sending glitter everywhere.

2008+ low mile gen4 with the beefy rods and flat tops is in the garage waiting to be dropped back in.

If you have a boost controller I would just put the softest spring in there for valet mode lol

Re: 4x4 6.0L/4L80e with a front mount turbo

When your on it hard is it twitchy in the rear like a car is, or does it stay pretty straight like my silverado did. I have driven my buddys vette a few times, and another buddys 03 cobra, and they felt like they were almost trying to kick out and throw you into a ditch.
