Im stumped (P0445)

2006 Colorado, Ext cab, 2wd, I5, 154k miles. I've had this reoccurring code for a bit now, about the same time as I've had a rough idle - in gear 800ish dipping to 600ish. Its more common when its cold outside.

I've replaced:
-Gas cap
-Canister purge valve
-Vent valve solenoid
-cleaned the throttle body

Any ideas? What else is left, changing hoses?

If they use road salt where you live maybe you need to slide the bed back and check out everything on top of the gas tank. Its a common problem on these trucks in the NE. Go to the top of this page, click on "search" and type in "rollover valve".

Very nice! After reading through this thread, I'm having the exact same problems as him...I never connected the two and I thought it was a fluke, but I DO smell gas when the truck is in the garage sometimes.

Now you got me shaking my head in disbelief...this will have to get fixed in 3-4 weeks when I move. (No time or space to do it until then).

Thank you! I'll update this in a few weeks.

If you haven't cleaned your TB and MAF recently, it would be a good time to do so. Dirty TB and MAF is a big cause for low idle in these trucks, its also one topic that has many threads associated to it, just search around.

Re: Im stumped (P0445)

Mine was the MAF & TB...replaced the sensor (and CAM position sensor too). Removed the intake, cleaned MAF sensor & TB w/CRC cleaner (Advance Auto). Runs/idles like a champ...again.

Re: Im stumped (P0445)

Replaced the tube connecting the intake resonator to the valve cover?

My rough/dipping idle was fixed with coils and SuperSparkz.

I got a new toy that took up the one weekend a few weeks ago that was nice (when I wasn't raking leaves the dude I bought the house from left).

Re: Im stumped (P0445)

Bit of an update: replaced the air filter last week and cleared the codes...

So far so good. No rough idle, no CEL, better gas mileage...I'm skeptical this ACTUALLY fixed it so I'll update this if/when it comes back...but as for now: who woulda thunk it?
