Question Parking brake won't release. Adjustment possible?

I had my rear parking brake cables replaced and ever since then, I cannot release my parking brake with just the handle. I have to pull the handle and hold it while i reach under the truck and grab and pull on the cables to release them. Is there any way to adjust the front parking brake assembly or will I have to buy a new one? I have an 04 Z71.

Re: Parking brake won't release. Adjustment possible?

I had the problem this fall and stopped using it after that so it's not the cold. I did more searching and found a how-to on beefing it up and moving it so it doesn't get frayed anymore. i'll have to get in there and see if that's my problem. Does anyone know if there's a tension adjustment for the thing? That might be my issue too.

the parking break cables are POS. I dont mash down on mine at all and mine one day broke. Push the pedal down and didnt do anything. had to get under and replace the whole line.

Re: Parking brake won't release. Adjustment possible?

I have had problems with my parking brake cables too. I rigged a fix for squeaky/worn through cable syndrome. Rear cable seized up on me (GMC replaced)... A wonderful system.
