Lightbulb Flat White Rattle Can Paint Job

Alrigh, so I recently traded my 05' Colorado Xtreme for an 04' GMC Canyon SLE "off-road". I loved the clean white look of my white Xtreme.

With this new truck I was thinking of doing a rattle can flat / Matte white paint job. Truck is currently like a forest green color. I would like some opinion, I personally like the black on white color scheme.

Has anyone seen a Colorado/canyon painted flat white before? Does anyone have pictures? I searched and could not find any.

Re: Flat White Rattle Can Paint Job

I've never even seen plasti dip, I've read threads mentioning it. How's the texture, like paint? How would it hold in elements?

I'm doing my own research too, I just might have to order a can and do some test pieces to see how it would look

I like that green a lot so I would have to say leave it be and figure out a way to color match or change the color of stuff to make it more unique overall.

Re: Flat White Rattle Can Paint Job

FixxxerKH, I've been thinking about this a little and I think I agree with you. I have an idea to embrace the current color. Did my research on Plasti Dip too, doesn't sound too promising, If I spent the time and money I don't want to be able to just peel the product off.

My vision includes debadging, dechroming replacing with flat black and herculining rocker panels and fender flares. I think the black and green will go good together especially when I get a little more lift.

Thread for my build and mods will follow.

The plasti dip is a good product. It will only peel off if you want it to and if it is applied right. Go to dipyourcar.com and go to the forums. You can learn a lot from reading. Guys do there while cars.

Re: Flat White Rattle Can Paint Job

I agree that OD green does look very nice.

I just sat and chewed on the idea of going white and I would want to do it right, by painting everything, door jambs, under hood, between bed and cab, would be able to do that too easily without taking time off. So I'm going to sit on my current color and make best of it.

Thinking it through even more the forest green I have not with everything else blacked out will go good and is much easier of a project to tackle.

Re: Flat White Rattle Can Paint Job

I plastidip'd my truck today with rattle cans, Spent about $50 usd but also bought masking tape and goo-off because I was going to de-badge my truck. I didn't de-badge it because I really didn't feel like it. I dipped the truck because I deploy soon and my truck is going to be sitting in Texas sun for 9 months, I didn't want to have sun faded clear coat when I come back. Pics tomorrow after I touch up a few spots and upload the photos.

Re: Flat White Rattle Can Paint Job

if your going to paint it,,, paint it, if you use rattle can you can forget ever pressure washing it if the truck gets very dirty cuz your paint is going to fly off. my paint is flat black enamel, john deere blitz black, cost me less than $100 in materials to paint it. need to wet sand the whole truck which is time consuming but leaving a gloss finish, even with plasti dip, the shit isn't going to stick to it well, bed liner coating is 100x better than plasti dip and it even requires roughing up the finish before applying....

I agree. I plasti dipped all of my plastic pieces on the bumpers and it did not hold up and I used a whole can on each one. But once the power washer hit it. It started flaking off like no tommorow. So now gotta go get some paint color matched to my truck and just gonna paint them black

Re: Flat White Rattle Can Paint Job

you could do roll on bed liner, would hold up much better than paint, and doing it yourself its not too expensive. i had both my bumpers sprayed with liner
