Only on a very good tune and meth injection. The internals are actually pretty weak.

They share the same internals as the trailblazer straight six. There are forged parts available.

These engine don't have aftermarket off the shelf. If you want these special parts you need to search and ask. Most companies dont offer these parts right off the shelf. Have to be special ordered

Re: 2.8L/2.9L Turbo Kits For Sale (maybe 5 cyl too?)

How much interest is there in a 5 cylinder turbo manifold?

I wouldn't expect a lot of people stepping up to the plate on the I5 manifolds but what kind of price are you thinking you can make the I5 manifolds for?

Re: 2.8L/2.9L Turbo Kits For Sale (maybe 5 cyl too?)

I'd have to charge $575 to make it worth my time. Getting kinda spendy, I know.

SO your current turbo set up on a I5 manifold would work then right?

Re: 2.8L/2.9L Turbo Kits For Sale (maybe 5 cyl too?)

I believe so. It can support 550ish hp, so that should be enough for a 5cyl.

It just dawned on me the other day that I could probably use my 4cyl jig for 5cyl manifolds too. The extra cylinder ends up on the back of the engine, so the turbo would sit a little further forward in the engine compartment, but its relation to the front of the engine and the power steering reservoir would stay the same. This would mean more clearance for the heater hoses and downpipe, which isn't a bad thing.

Snaking the 5th tube into the collector will be the challenge. Might be worth a try though. The first guy to buy one would probably get a discount, as he would have to confirm fitment.

Re: 2.8L/2.9L Turbo Kits For Sale (maybe 5 cyl too?)

The 5th tube causes some tom foolery haha. I tried to sell them years ago and it didn't take off. I successfully sold 1....haha

I've toyed with the idea of making a batch and letting them sit on the shelf but there are better money making avenues that continue to win.

As far as the internal strength discussion. The rods are beef, the Pistons are beef as long as you don't get greedy with timing. I thrashed and thrashed on mine at 24 lbs from a 76mm and it never skipped a beat until the day it got 93 instead of e85 by accident. Its all in the tune

I'm selling my current turbo setup complete. Not sure if anyone who was subscribed here is still wanting a turbo kit, but if so then here it is:
