The posts and content presented on this site reflect in no way the views of 355nation.net or it’s ownership. ![]() A 355nation How To presented by Captain Rab and brewer15650 Project Name How To Air bag led color conversion Project Description Converting stock airbag control lamps to an Led color of your choice Skill Level Moderate Project Vehicle Make: Chevrolet Model: Colorado Year: 2007 Engine: 3.7L Power windows: Yes Sun Roof: No Tools Needed Soldering iron Solder (2) 3 mm LED’s and the respective current limiting resistor (Get several more in case you mess up or kill one because of too much heat) Solder Wick Wire Small flat screwdriver Project Time 1-2 hours or less Project Cost Roughly $3.00 1. Remove center bezel by prying on the lower section 2. Pull outward on lower plastic panel until the clips disengage 3. Disconnect hazard wiring switch and air bag wiring harness. 4. Use appropriate nut driver to remove air bag electronic assembly 5. Use a flat blade screwdriver to remove top cover on air bag assembly. See picture below: ![]() 6. Remove top cover off plastic assembly ![]() 7. Remove PC board assembly 8. Once the PC board assembly is removed you will see two lamps soldered to the board, remove these two lamps 9. Solder the respective color led and proper resistor value together using the text below for the proper current limiting resistor following this template. Make sure that the resistor goes to the anode side of the led. See pic below: • 470 ohms for colors Blue, Green, White, U.V. (Black light) & Pink • 560 ohms for Red, Yellow & Orange 1/4 watt resistors will work fine ![]() 10. Your led/resistor assembly’s should look now like this ![]() Now bend the assembly in the shape of a U and then solder to the board so that it looks like the pictures below Bottom Side view ![]() ![]() Top Side View 11. Finally double check polarity of diodes and resistor orientation ![]() Install the board back into plastic assembly and then replace the top cover. IF you would like to check the assembly before it goes back into the truck and have a power supply. Place 12 volts on the pins locations identified in the first picture. ![]()
