Took awhile to find this part on Rockauto.com - but in case anybody is interested, while browsing the online catalog, it can be found (in my case) under GMC>Canyon>3.5L L5>Engine>Variable Timing Solenoid

Should unplugging the connector make it run different. Mine ran the same ether way. Just in the yard giving it gas did not drive it

Dorman number is 917-010. Any auto place should be able to cross that. But just in case... Dorman Products - Search Results |

I tried aftermarket once for a repair and had no luck so I stick with OEM ECAS....

Just picked one up from work for $38. I haven't pulled my old one to check it. I'm having a little hiccup at cold start, slightly rough idle, low end feels slightly sluggish and fuel economy is down.So I figured i would give it a try.Ive serviced and cleaned everything else on the truck. Just replaced my ECAS at ~94K miles. No CEL no pending codes but i had a rough idle. I checked compression and did a cylinder leakdown and it was all ok. Found this thread and figured it was worth a shot. Cost at the dealer for OEM part $41.36. Replaced and disconnected battery for a while, restarted and let it warm up. The idle is much smoother and I even seem to be getting better gas mileage (maybe a figment of my imagination) after 200 miles. I had no leaking or residue around the solenoid and none of the screens were clogged or missing! Thanks for posting this!

I believe the consensus is from those of us in the field is to stick with OEM ecas as the replacement choice.. Less hassles in the long term.

I went through 2 of the dorman or whatever the brand is before I got one from the dealership. The price wasn't but like $5-10 more and I haven't had a problem with it since. My crank position sensor is another story though. Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com Free App |
