idle air control valve question

Since we are off for the holidays I have spent a few days helping a buddy get his canyon going. Everything is good now but he keeps getting this code so we went down to the autozone and had it read. Results are per the autozone man that the idle air control valve is bad.

The truck idles like crap and has 93k on it. I was wondering if cleaning the tb and maf would help this or not. Autozone stated its like 400 bucks (that he doesnt have) to change the part.

Any ideas or cheaper sources for the part would greatly be appreciated.

Re: idle air control valve question

I don't believe we have an iac valve. I believe it uses the throttle body blade for idling. Which is why the part would be so much.

Re: idle air control valve question

Clean the TB and MAF but don't use the same cleaner for both. The MAF is delicate so only use MAF cleaner on it.
