well I am sitting at the dealer for about two more hours while they do a compression check on the head. Truck is a 2005 and went through the 36000 mile warranty a long time ago. Did some research and found out that's it's up to 100000 for this problem. I am currently at 100274. I really hope they can fix it. Any other ideas in case this doesn't work out in my favor?

If the dealer tells you they wont cover it....you have one more chance to plead your case with gm. Call them gm help line and tell them about it. Its close enough that they should fix it.

Hopefully they don't give you grief over 274 miles, good luck. My dealer wanted to charge me $2800 to replace the head until I printed off the recall letter and took it into them.

They ran the test and found nothing. They also said if the CEL comes back on, take it to them. It was on when I left this morning and to my luck, it disappeared before I got to the dealer. It only happens when there is moisture around like rain, snow, or even after a car wash. I need to check the boots and make sure water isnt get in that way. Its just so freaking cold outside... 15 degs currently

Check your plugs, and the boots. But generally the P0300 code is a precursor to needing the head job. Good thing you went in now. At least you can establish a trail.

Sounds like that shop is not really doing much trouble shooting, unfortunately.

yeah it went off after I left the dealership. I left work today and its on so I drive my happy ass to the dealer and park it in their garage with the truck left on and dragged a guy to see that the light was on. Needless to say, they saw two misfires in Cylinder 2 and 5. They are going to the reps tomorrow to determine if I am able to get it fixed. I think so. I hope they tell me good news tomorrow.

well its good up to 100,000 miles. If you have a 06-up, your warranty automatically is 100,000.

Well fuck. The local dealership said they "called" the gm rep and they wanted to offer me one of two things. He said that GM wont be any lenient since I am 200 miles over 100,000 limit. That pisses me off. He said I could trade the truck in on a new one and they will give me 1500 extra plus the cost of the trade in, or he said that GM will split the cost of the repair 50/50. You would think that if they want a good reputation, they would give a break here and there. I am getting a ballpark figure currently since they are blowing smoke up my ass.

I just got my truck back today from the P0300 code. My light came on 2x times last week then went off. Of course when I brought it to the dealer the light was off, but I told them I got the code read from another local shop. They ran it and the same code. I took it in on 30 Dec and got it back this afternoon. I have 55K on my 05. It ran good when I brought it in. I havent driven it yet, because my wife picked it up. Glad it was under warranty
