Exclamation MAP sensor issues

Ok so about two weeks ago my check engine light came on for something with my MAP sensor. My mechanic checked the vacuum and then replaced the sensor. Now, about 300 miles later, the light is back on with error code P0106. Ive been blaming the K&N intake because ive been having a lot of issues with sensors and the intake, but honestly dont know what the cause of the problem is. I called k&N and they were doubtful it had anything to do with their intake, so now im looking for some other possible causes. I just checked vacuum again with some starter fluid, and it has no leaks.

Re: MAP sensor issues

Same exact thing happened to me. I had the CEL light up, got a new sensor, light went out. About 250-300 miles after that got a CEL went and had it checked and guess what...MAP sensor...Since that, I havent changed it and the only noticeable change is a slightly low idle and a glaring bright orange motor outline telling me that I am stupid...Hope you find A solution cuz I havent.

Re: MAP sensor issues

First I have heard of issues with the MAP, normally the issues are with a dirty MAF.

Exactly...what year did you say yours is? I have a 2005 I5...I have heard that there could be probklems with the head...maybe that is a contributing factor...oh and yes I do have an intake...K&N matter of fact...and my symptoms are just like yours...

Re: MAP sensor issues

mine is as well, start with cleaning your maf and throttle body, then move to bigger things if problem continues. trust me i heard all this hype about "clean your throttle body it will cure aids" shit and i was like there is no way its gonna fix my problem....until i actually cleaned it and it fixed it.

maf sensor spray-$6
throttle body cleaner- $4
------------------------------
parts and labor....$10 its worth a try.

Did it last night and so far so good...CEL has been on since I was a sperm, and it has gone off now. Cleaned both MAF Sensor, and TB...worked like a charm...I think I might get rid of my filter and go with a dry filter. I had a whole bunch of gunk all in my TB...more than likely red death juice from my filter!!! Do the cleaning and see what happens

It's not the filter. It's just funked tbs. Does it with dry filters to. Clean tb every 20k and you will be surprised what you find. Btw chemtrol b12 works great to clean em. Looks new with little effort.

Re: MAP sensor issues

got to mine today. i unplugged battery as a precaustion when i was undoing the wires, so of course the light went off. So far though ive noticed a much higher idle at startup ~1k and then it slows to about 650. no more idle drop though! time will tell. my fingers are crossed.
