Clicking noise in front end??

When I slow down abruptly or am braking on a down slope. I have a loud clicking noise that I think is coming from the front left of my truck. Does anyone know what this could be I have only 51k on it so I hope that something in the suspension is not shot. I have a tb crank but not much probably about an inch and a half that I did about 7k ago.

Re: Clicking noise in front end??

If your 4wd it's probably a cv joint on its way out.

Re: Clicking noise in front end??

I have a clicking noise when spinning on the RF. dealer told me it was the rack and pinion, which they are replacing under waranty. kinda doubt it is the cause of the noise, but its free

I'm 2wd but I think I know exactly what you're talking about. Under braking every now and then I hear a metal clank that almost sounds like my brake pads clamping on my rotors.

It sounds like something is clicking in and when I accelerate it clicks back out like it won't stay in the spot it's supposed to.

Re: Clicking noise in front end??

Not always, I have a pretty similar problem and swapped out the CV, no change.

We've been trying to find the cause for a while, our current theory is my caliper guide pins are pretty worn, we think it's the caliper smacking around. Haven't gotten to changing them out yet though.

Do you have a metallic rattle coming from that area when going over bumps?
