Guess Im missing something

I'm getting codes and MSG for gaz cap and evap system failure.. I thing I just figure why...

Here are the codes I was getting

P0449 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent Solenoid Control Circuit

U1064

P0455-Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Leak Detected

P2444

haha yeah thats a good indication why. missing gas gap will do it everytime.

i have a question, after you get a new gas cap, will the engine light go off by itself or do you have to clear it?

I get the code for the gas cap (eventhough mine is still there), and I have only managed to clear it by computer or by filling the truck up ALL the way. Like gas coming out the top of the nozzle. lol

Pull the NEG battery cable to reset and you'll be golden like a shower

Lolllll nooooo I have a gaz cap!!! It's hooked to the gaz door it's just off of the picture.. Hahaha what I'm missing is the lil steel spring flip trap I guess it fell inside the tank..

Could be. gas cap could be faulty also. My last emissions test was failed for a bad gas cap, it never threw a code but there machine caught it. Bought a replacement at auto zone and I was good to go.

I wouldn't think that the metal spring loaded door thingy would seal off enough to hold any kind of vacuum though.

I don't know if it's just certain year models or what, but my truck has never had that little flapper.

It doesnt seal anything its part of the restrictor plate to only allow unleaded fuels. My truck has never had it either and its an 05

I finally figured what's going on with mine after 14 yes 14 gas caps. On the neck lip there was a very slight convex weld so the gas cap couldn't seal flat, so I filed it to flat. I've never had a problem since.

You could damage the seal that way. I would recomend hanging it the way GM intended and let the plastic strap hang on that hook.
