buy used 3.73 g80

I'm look to chage my 3.42 for 3.73 for put bigger tire on this little truck.
I found 7-8 near me arround 500 to 700$+tax with 1years waranty. (exclude brake,drum and oil) and all write with locking diff. 3 are from z85 other from z71 4x4
Mine are z85 2wd but the inch wider are not a big trouble..

He had in stock 1 gt5 4.10 with locking too for 738$ but he write lost rubber seal.. wich one?? i need to call for that but its in stock so i check when a go to scrapyard

What exactly I need to check on before I pickup?
If at hand turn are possible to look if have g80?

Brake and drum are same z85 and z71?

i wouldnt go 4.10s unless your running around a 33" tire. a 29-30" tire will have the rpms up at highway speed and your fuel mileage will drop. it would be responsive but cost more in fuel and annoy you on the highway if you have very loud exhaust. is there any certain reason you want a locker? if not you could do 3.73's in your axle fairly cheap. your stock axle with 3.42s is not real hot so it may take a while to sell if you buy a replacement, just something to think on. my old one with the g80 never locked on tight turns, only when one breaks traction

I want g80 because i have this now and love the feeling on snow and need too when a go back the fish boat out the water. Its good! Its my first truck other than my previous jeep patriot awd. And the previous s10 to a friend he had lot off trouble in winter stuck in snow ice..

But i didnt drive canyon or colly without g80 to try the difference....

Agreed, i would do the 3.73's..4:10's will be too much.

i guess i dont understand what you are saying. you already have the g80 locker with 3.42's but want 3.73's? it looks like you asked if it will lock on hard turns? i didnt think the z85's came with it unless they were 4x4, i may be wrong.

Yeah i have 3.42 bone stock to my z85 and my stock tire are 28.3in diameter and i want to put 30in on it. But most people saying it not good to drive 30in on the little gear ratio 3.42.
Its why a want to swap for 3.73 for better driveability like people says.

I want put 30in for my next summer tire to ride with 2.5smaxx spacer. But probably later lift more if i like it on reg cab.

might check with some of the guys in the sas threads if any are close. they usually swap the rears when lifting, i swapped mine a while back for a dana 44 and sold the stock for $400 to a guy on here

Yep i check somtime. But shipping for rear axle probably high.. each time i buy stuff i usa a ship that to a little warehouse behind the usa/can border. Its better frlor shipping rate and duty.

Who try 30in on 3.42? At this time with my 28.3 at 65mph the rpm sit 2000rpm ang that look fine to me for my driving style. I.m not crazy fan for high speed.burnout or anything. Most of my friend say i drive like a old man hahaha

Weel a much for it complet with gear shipped on woodenpallet? To ny 12919?
It possible to make a good deal with that and try non locker before buy huge tire

take the diff cover off check for water in the diff and rust is clean and no chunks lol

i had 30inch tires on a reg cab 2.8 5speed with 3.42s and i got 450miles on 17-18 gallons i went to a 31.5 and now i get 320 on a tank

that not to bad for 30in on that setup truck same to mine.
on normal driving 40city-60highway my range for now with 28.5 are 405miles per fuel tank

i try it for sure with 3.42 and if like shit, i want to swap with 3.73 or just gear and pinion
