Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: shaved tailgate on a dime got a lot done today . had to make a decision on where to mount the plate that holds the handle , on the top plate that hold the trim piece or down in the tailgate with a bracket after much thought i choose down in the tailgate . if you mount on the trim plate then every time you need to get in you have to pry off the plastic trim piece . and they break easy . here what i come up with . nothing is welded in yet . still waiting for feed back . silver hair deere |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: shaved tailgate on a dime got the old opening covered today . the hardest part was cutting and trimming a piece of metal to fit the hole . i think my welding is getting better (remember flux core) the funny part was i wear a welding apron (it would take two cows to really cover me) i was setting there doing my thing and i smell something , right past the welding apron my paints caught on fire . no hurt to me but funny . the rest of the pictures are as far as i got today . due to weather won't be back out there till monday enjoy . silver hair deere |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: shaved tailgate on a dime excuse me i suffer from C.R.S. it is .030 flux core . i have the gas kit but no money for the tank . (live on disable pay) so i do the best i can , yes i should have welded it fully but it isn't a hight stress and i need to conserve my wire for future projects . i hope this form doesn't hold it against me because i'am dirt poor and must dream of ways to cheaply build this stuff . believe me i would love to buy a kit for this projects but i can't . sorry silver hair deere Last edited by silver hair deere; 11-15-2008 at 09:12 AM. |
