Removing air vents and center (radio) panel?

They are silver and want to paint them black.

Do they just pop out or is it a major project to remove them?

I don't want to bust stuff. (like I usually do)

Thanks, Derek.

they just pop out, the radio one pulls out a lot easier than the vents. Just be carefull with the vents.

The center panel pops out, and you can pop it from the bottom working your way up. As for the vents, I have no idea. I just know the center panel pops out that way from installing my stereo.

Do the cluster trim too, might as well, it's removed just as easy.
^ I was just as paranoid about breaking them too, but don't fret.

For the radio bezel, I had to work from the top down. For the vents just push easily toward a side.

Yeah, I was really worried about breaking my center panel. But it does require quite a bit of muscle to get if off.

Re: Removing air vents and center (radio) panel?

dont have to but it looks a lot cleaner if you do sand. there is a how to on doing it..

but ya takes the texture off the pieces and make them look lots better. then you do plastic adhesive promoter or something like that..

Thanks

Nothing like a little positive reinforcement before doing something dumb.

Re: Removing air vents and center (radio) panel?

use a small screwdriver....youll need it to pop off the panels....and the vents have "extension" pieces on them....you dont have to take them off but i did....they are brittle though, be careful....it makes a big difference painting that stuff though....good luck!

Do not use a screw driver when pulling out the radio bezel...
you will scratch something. just use your hands. As stated before, start from the bottom and work your way to the top.

Re: Removing air vents and center (radio) panel?

Again, thanks!

As long as I know they pop out I'll be careful.

Believe me, I've made my fair share of messes being hasty.

if hes going to sand and paint them anyway, what does it matter?

Re: Removing air vents and center (radio) panel?

im not talking about scratching the bezel. I am talking about the dash, on the side were the bezel meets the rest of the dash. Why even risk it?
