Re: Removing Passenger Side Dash Air Bag Cover

ya but its a pain to explain...

there are two bolts that hide out and you get to them through your console then get your hand in from the hole where you have to take out your center bezel and then pull the whole airbag set up off but make sure the batteries is unplugged you don't want that bag going off. it will take a while

Re: Removing Passenger Side Dash Air Bag Cover

Re: Removing Passenger Side Dash Air Bag Cover

I just did the dash swap in my truck, went from gray to ebony black dash from a 2009...

drop the glove box by squeezing in the sides. take out the radio and the side panel giving access to inside the dash, there are 2 bolts on the back of the bags, and 2 bolts on the underside. make sure the battery has been unplugged for atleast 10 minutes before attempting this, after bolts are out, the cover and the bag come out as one piece.

check your hood hinges! Thats the reason I know how to take my airbag out, because I pretty much gutted the entire interior looking for a rattle and it turned out that my hood hinges were worn out.

Grab onto the hood at the corner by the windshield and give it a shake. if there is any play in it at all then thats your problem.

Re: Removing Passenger Side Dash Air Bag Cover

old thread, but I believe I have the same rattle. it sounds like it is coming from the airbag area. i have checked the glove box, XM receiver, radio, connectors, cables etc and cannot locate it. did anyone find anything?

Re: Removing Passenger Side Dash Air Bag Cover

ya....your passenger side A pillar rubbing up against the dash

but ya the air bag assbl is a bitch to get out. ive had mine out 4 times priming and painting it.

your not going to set it off unless the CO2 cartridge gets punctured.

i think its been covered but take off the glove box and you have 2 bolts from the bottom, one bolt from the right hand side (you'll see a small 3'' by 3'' thing on the passenger side of the dash you can take off) going into the back of the air bag, lastly you have to take out the radio and there is another bolt going into the back of the air bag.

take out and unplug the yellow plug

Re: Removing Passenger Side Dash Air Bag Cover

i was just debating doing this, thought "maybe it will just pop off like the rest of the interior". not the case. i knew enough to not just yank so i didnt break anything...but reading the hassle this is gonna be i guess i'll wait til i have more daylight...

This was the problem in my case, passenger side hood hinge, just tighten it.
