Re: Pre-Runner!

Stagarm has/had this kit. I would say that the springrate would be up 25-50lbs each side at most.

Re: Pre-Runner!

I'm using CST 5" with my kit. (painted them fab tech blue I ended up using both brenthel's and CST brake lines together to reach caliper. (had to buy special fitting from "royal brass" in san jose to link the two together.)

I had some hardware fitting problems tho. Ended up having to mill out a couple of the a-arm spacers to fit oem bolts. The steering extensions thread were to big. (made my own) other than that the kit when together fairly easy... Took some time tuning it all in to my needs. (changed spring rate, coil plate, preload, valves)

When ordering the coilovers don't get the riser coil plate. The standard flat plates works better with this kit. (king shocks)

I would say 600lbs rate springs with a v8. (im using 500lbs with 4 banger reg. cab. little stiff but nice.)

Re: Pre-Runner!

so from what I gathered reading, and searching. To make a "mid travel" set up I can run a cst 5" spindle w/ the arms from brenthel? and fox shocks?

Re: Pre-Runner!

you can do what you said. for a little extra money, but waaay better performance i would take the torsion bars out. put in shock hoops and go with coil overs, most expensive will be the coil overs, but if your planning on wheelin it good they are waaaay better performance wise than the torsion set up.

another route u can go to some sway away torsion bars ive heard descent things about them never personally owned some i might go that route since im 4wd tho. its all up to how big your wallet is and what your intentions are.

Re: Pre-Runner!

than jus stick with ur torsions. get some monotube shocks and youll be lookin pretty good. the brenthal set up is a clean set up. jus wish they made it for a 4x4 would have been first thing i got for my truck.

Re: Pre-Runner!

actually i just looked and brethel doesnt make a kit for the torsion bar set up. so youd have to go coils for this kit to work.

I think the issue is not about using torsion or coil overs; it's about 2 different suspension geometries we are talking about. If you were to install the Brenthel kit on a Z71, all the geometry would be messed and no travel at all might be going on for you, or maybe a couple of inches of total travel at the expense of the BJs lives, hehe.

Re: Pre-Runner!

i havent looked at a 2wd coil set up on these trucks. with a toyota i know you can take out all the torsion set up to convert to coils no problem jus being same mount positions on the truck. colorados could be different all i know is on brenthel it says not for 4wd or Z71 due to torsion set up and possibly geometry issues than

We can start with the fact that the steering racks are totally different, not being swap-able, and rod ends on Z71 are bolted from above into the spindle, as opposite to the Z85/ZQ8 that are bolted from below. Geometry is diff.
