Re: Norms SAS questions........

You will have to run spacers if you use the Toyota mini truck front axle

I think several guys are still running there stock t-case , and I plan to also

If your getting the whole truck you can rob some parts from it but yes most get the toy mini truck 2wd steering box

Re: Norms SAS questions........

I took the wiring harness from the front diff right out in the engine bay.Theres a connection it makes on the passenger side.Without the diff actuator the T-case still works but the light just stays blinking when its in 4wd.As for the spacer its really hard to say if you need one or not.Your wheels are 3.75" BS 15x8's if I remember right. What are you planning for springs?

Re: Norms SAS questions........

Stock Toyota front axle measurements for comparison:
55.5" wide, 29" spring perch centers, '79-85 Toyota trucks and 4runners, SA Hubs
58.25" wide, 29" spring perch centers, '79-85 Toyota trucks and 4runners, IFS Hubs
63.5" wide, (set up for coil springs) 90-97 FJ80 and FZJ80 Landcruisers
'86-95 IFS front end is about 58.5" wide
'93-98 T100 IFS front end is about 65" wide

The z71 rear axle is 63.5" wms-wms and that 1980 axle is 55.5" wms-wms stock if you put the ifs hubs on that axle it will then be 58.25" wms-wms so it will still be 5.25" to narrow and from what I have read people say its ok to run 2" spacers on those axles but... So if you did that you would be at 62.25" wms-wms so your track width up front would be 1.25" narrower than the rear and that's only 0.625" each side so you would never notice it . If you search for sasygirl (sp) or the thread she made for her build my hubby's been busy Or something along those lines I can't remember they used a mini truck axle so it can be done and can work fine

Leafs will work great stock might be ok but might have to do an aal or trail gear sells lift leaf packs cheep and lots of other goodies that will help you on your build

Re: Norms SAS questions........

Yes but other parts need to change also like the brakes see links above

I'm using an Toyota fzj80 front axle because its 63.5" wide and beefier than the mini but they are not as cheep to find with the locking front diff like mine is but you can get a non lock front and upgrade it later and you can find the non locking diff for about what you would spend on that mini axle making it wider

Re: Norms SAS questions........

The fzj80 is the 93-96 Toyota land cruiser but the non lock can be found in the 90 or 91-96 land cruisers also if you go that way let me know and ill dig up all the links I got save on the LC axles

Re: Norms SAS questions........

Yeah that's what they used and I think dents also used some of the mounts and leafs for his truck but used a different axle

Re: Norms SAS questions........

Dents has a D44 setup on the his just like mine but I heard his is the HP44 and narrowed down.Mine is full width front and rear.Remember that the fitting's for the brakes on these trucks is 10mm and older 4x4's are SAE so you will have to come up with a way to adapt them over as well.
