Re: Lowering my Colorado

At this stage, I have 3 1/2" rear blocks with helper bags and -2" TB un-cranked for the front. The rear shocks are factory length and the front shocks are 2" shorter.
Make sure to remove both front and rear bump stops.
The factory 17" rims have the perfect offset for lowering your 4x4.
I have already pretested 31" wheels at 4" front drop with not robbing, lock to lock.
My next stage is to raise the front differential so I can drop her another inch or two.

I read thru your entire build thread last night! And do I need to cut both bump stops off? And can I get atleast 3 out of the stock keys with out moving the diff up?

Lowering my Colorado

I want to go as low as possible and for as cheap as possible. I'm not sure I'm going to keep it lowered just seeing if I like it. I never had a lowered truck so I'm just testing waters lol

Lowering my Colorado

am finishing up my research before ordering all my parts. Right now I've got a 2 door Z85 withthe DJM LCAs and the 4" blocks. I'm looking to go to a 5/7 running 245/45 r17. I was looking into the belltech 25005 strut with the factory spring for the drop in front, a set of belltech 3" leafs for the rear. I'm ready for the crossmember and notches ill need in the frame and bed support. Anything else I might need or know issues with this set up?

the rear you just unbolt. the front you will need to cut the metal cups that hold the stops in. you can try a 2/3 setup with trimmed front stops (the foam/rubber portion, not metal) but it sucks. i dont recommend it. 1/2 works very well with just trimmed stops, but of course you will want to go lower.

i was able to get all the way down until bottomed on the stops/cups (pre cut) with stock keys but the ride blows. cut cups + drop keys + shorter shocks = great ride. just dont hit any massive dips.

moving the diff up will be a HUGE step forward for us with 4WD, anxiously waiting to see if James can make that work. otherwise, you need to be very cautious about your CV angles.

if you want a free set of 2" and 3" Belltech blocks, you can have mine. just pay shipping.

I recommend that u ride in a lowered truck first before u lower yours. The ride will definitely be different from stock and u may not like that. You can go as low as u want. The lower u go the more $$$ it will cost u. Especially with traction bars. I have a regular coilspring suspension and my front lowered setup has got me at around $700 with me doing all the labor
