So I feel like I'm almost ready to be dropped

Spring is around the corner. I've been doing little things here and there power wise. I feel like I'm ready drop her down a bit. Thinking 3 inch drop in the back and 2 inch in the front. So we are leveled and I can close oup that wheel well a bit. My question is... I've looked at a few kits. I tried reading what some of you have done already. With what blocks or what springs or knoching out the frame. So on and so forth.

What in everyones opinion has been the best kit and way to lower. But also keep or gain confort. Cause I'm already aware how much stiffer and harder the suspension will be once it's lowered. Honestly I think stock right now is terrible. I wish I had a more of a softer ride. So is it possible to get a good kit and also get a good feel? Somewhat softer ride?

I'm in Jersey. There's A LOT of pot holes! Haha Which of course need to definitely be avoided when lowered.

1. Best kit to save up for
2. Best way to lower Knoch or not?
3. Softer more smooth ride (if possible)

Re: So I feel like I'm almost ready to be dropped

I have control arms up front and they ride ehh. But out back im running belltech leafs and the street performance shocks and LOVE it. Much much better than stock. Some people say the belltechs ride too soft but i beg to differ. If your only going two inches out back remove the big bump stops and you should be good with no notch. I only slap on really really large bumps

3 inches in the rear and 2 in the front. I want to go lower but this is my everyday driver. When I get money it's being bagged. This is just a temporary thing for the next maybe 4 years. Haha

The best I've found is QA1's if you can afford them or have the patience to wait for someone to finally sell them.

For the front I would suggest Balljoints, you still get factory setup and true 2in drop.

For the rear, you can go either blocks or pull leafs out. Blocks will be a little more expensive for you since your a newer year.

Re: So I feel like I'm almost ready to be dropped

Oh damn sorry lol, excuse my reading in my previous post. but if your bagging go blocks out back (cheapest) and balljoints up front. I believe thats what the bagged guys use so you will need them anyway and wont be wasting money. If you notch just get one big enough so you wont have to do it again when you bag.

Yeah that, if your planning on bagging then you'll need the ball joints anyways.

Re: So I feel like I'm almost ready to be dropped

Yea. Its not gonna be for a long time though. Still might not happen. Who knows. I would like to. Even if it costs me a good deal just to lower. I'll get my moneys worth over the next few years. Than I can turn around and sell or just take them out. But for now. Yes I wanna lower and I wanna do it right the first time and want it to be a smooth ride. If it costs a lot. Than it costs a lot. All it takes is some saving. Which I have no problem doing. That's why I'd like to see what everyone thinks and knows. And see how much I need to spend. Or how much I should save. Bagging would be nice. But lowering is what's important to me for now. Bagging was just a possible thought. So for now... I could just use all the help I can get for lowering. If anyone has any good website for the kits or whatever I need. I can start pricing things out.

Haha The more help I get the more excited I get about it. The more I want it. Cheap or expensive. I'll save to do it right. Haha

Re: So I feel like I'm almost ready to be dropped

I got all of my stuff through craigslist (from a guy who happened to be a member) who decided to lift his, sold me all his lowering stuff for really cheap. I havent bought any lowering stuff from him, but Tony over at TBSSstore.com will beat any price. I bought a set of wheels from him and he was great to do buisness with. He gives out his cell number so if you need anything just text him and he usually replies within 30 mins. On baton rouge craigslist right now theres a set of control arms and leafs for pretty cheap

If you can afford it, go with coilovers and balljoints.

Re: So I feel like I'm almost ready to be dropped

So I'm looking at belltech coilovers and 3 inch blocks in the rear and Just balljoints in the front? That should give me my 2 in the front and my 3 in the back with a smooth soft ride? How much you figure I'm looking at for all these things? And what other options do I have if I don't switch to balljoints in the front? Just keep everything the same?

I only ask b/c I'm still under warranty. Even though it's pretty much fucked as it is. I just wanna be able to swap back to normal. IF it's needed.

Re: So I feel like I'm almost ready to be dropped

Also I'll have my body kit on so I will appear a bit more lower. Do they still make those lowering flares for the wheel wells? To smaller the wheen well up a bit more?

Re: So I feel like I'm almost ready to be dropped

I am running belltech coilovers on the front dropped all the way down and 3" blocks in the back. The ride is stiff and I feel alot of bumps in the road running 18"s. If you want cushy you may want to look into maybe just springs. I would compare the stiffness of the front coilovers being more than my stock VW GTI suspension which is a sport car suspension. However I lover the handling and the stance. As for notching, you dont need it unless you are going 4" in the back. I havent removed anything as far as bumpstops and have been on some bump roads and even dirt roads and have yet to hit my bumpstops in the rear.
