2 Din Navigation/Stereo

Hello,
I am new and I am addicted to looking for mods for my truck.
Just got it last week and put in a 50 HD flowmaster. Sounds good!

I want to upgrade my Stereo. I have read posts about some of you installing 2 Din Kenwoods. The factory stereo is obviously a 2 din (2011 Canyon V8 Crew Cab Z71). I want to buy the new Pioneer AVIC-X930BT but Crutchfield said that the AVIC-X920BT (older model) would not fit my truck without major mods. So I would assume the same would apply to the 930.

My question is, are all 2 din stereos the same size? So if the Kenwood 2 Dins installed fine in some of yours, shouldnt the Pioneer work fine too?

Has the dash changed in the last several years?

Any help would is appreciated.

Thanks,

Luke

Re: 2 Din Navigation/Stereo

I noticed that as well with some of the double dins on crutchfield. It states you have to trim the metal support, but to me it looks like their is plenty of room in the dash. Especially since the single headunits have a mount with a storage space underneath which is about the same size of any double din.

Re: 2 Din Navigation/Stereo

Thanks for the input.

I searched "double din" and saw a couple guys with kenwoods and Pioneer double dins.

Check out this link if your intrested.
It has pics of their setups and tips on the appropriate wiring harnesses.
Double DIN Questions

I just orded the Pioneer AVIC-X930BT! $660 on Ebay and it looks like a frickin sweet deck!

I will probably just get my wiring kits from Best buy (even though they charge a lot for wires)

I will make a detailed thread once I install it.

I think my wife is happy I have a new hobby other than drinking beer

Buy the Metra GMRC-01 module, it is the better of the harness modules available for our trucks

Re: 2 Din Navigation/Stereo

when I put my pioneer double din in, I had to take off the tab that comes up off the dash support beam so I could set the radio back in a little and have more room for all the wires. It usually attaches to the back of the factory stereo.
