^^^ Very Nice. Great depth of field.

Here is the rare sunset and full moon in same frame shot.

Re: Photography...

The toad won, but it was a good effort by the snake.
It was a garter snake, just not quite large enough to get the toad.
They thrashed around for about 5 minutes and the toad finally got the snake loose.
Our dog was watching them the whole time like WTF?

That's awesome! I love battles like that. Youtube has some good ones.

One of my favorites is of an Eagle picking up a small deer and carrying it over a cliff edge and dropping it!

Thanks man! And unfortunately yes. Must have been pushing a little too hard in the twisties in the mountains and it got starved of oil. Still not exactly sure what's wrong but it's knocking pretty decently I've got it at a shop as of today so I'll know whats wrong tomorrow. I've built motors before and wish I could rebuild this (or LS swap it haha), but I have no time with me going back to school in a few days. Hopefully it's nothing more than a broken valve, but I'm expecting the worst knowing my luck.

Are you into the Saturn scene at all?

You'll get a kick out of this one. He was having some trouble with cooling on one of the runs. He tossed his bumper in the back of my truck and all was solved. Awesome IAT's haha

Re: Photography...

Does the knocking sound louder under the truck or on top? A rod knock will never make top end noise. Even piston slap will still be lower.

That's shit man, good luck with getting it repaired or swapped.

I understand the concept of depth of field and how the aperture can be set up, but how do you get such a good contrast between the cars and their backgrounds? Do you measure or just been doing it long enough that you are able to just see it in your head?

Not sure what you mean? When you shoot at a shallow depth of field (a small numbered f-stop) like F2.8 your subject is in focus but anything that is on a different focal plane will be out of focus. When you shoot with a wide depth of field (large numbered f-stop) like f-22 everything in the frame will be in focus.

This shot was taken at f-3.5. Notice that the guy in the glasses is in focus but the guy sitting a foot closer is OOF. He is not in the same focal plane as the guy with glasses so when the depth of field is shallow you get that separation between the subject and the background or foreground.

Re: Photography...

Yeah, that is what I am talking about, but how do you guys generally know what fstop to use to achieve the look you want? Basically where you have what you want in focus; for instance the two guys above are in focus and everything else isn't...

Maybe some sort of numbers game/equation you toss through your head real quick to get a good idea of how far you need to be away or how close or... hell I don't know.

Any kind of trick or is it just playing with it and getting the feel?

Re: Photography...

There is a depth of field preview button on my camera. Just below where the flash release and lense release buttons are.
