This morning I rode the bike out (in sub 30 degrees) to where I want to photograph the racers from an upcoming event. It seemed to start out alright but then the sun came up over the mountains and threw a few overly bright areas. And when I quit, the sun on the water was making too much glory to leave to go to work, so I stayed for a few.

Nice shots. I especially like the foggy water.

Thanks, it was pretty cool on the water. Lots of birds. Ducks were incoming and taking off. Nice reflections on areas of glass. And the steam rising was prominent. I tried out my ND filter too, but it's not dark enough. I had to get to the tunnel by a certain time, but I really wanted to use the ND filter before the sun was bright on the steamy water. |

Going to bring my dslr to my work Christpas party (yeah its late, but its how we roll), wondering if I should bring just my nifty fifty or my kit lens. It will be a bit dark, so I am thinking my 50mm, will be doing mainly portraits. Wish I had an external flash, think that will be my next purchase.

Bring both lenses. I find I use the wide angle more in party situations. The T4i should be decent up to ISO 3200 if you really have to push it. The pop up flash isn't bad either. I've taped a piece of white paper napkin to the front of mine as a diffuser in a pinch lol Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using AutoGuide.Com Free App |

Yeah the 50mm does not have IS, but its fast and good for low light. Well see how I make out, after a few drinks I may put it away..just to be safe lol

| CALI BOSS | Re: Photography... The problems with the nifty50 is the narrow FOV which means you will need to stand back a ways to fit a group of people and it does not auto-focus well at all in dim lighting

It was like the trash pile in the Pacific from the Tsunami in Japan. It just circulated around the room for the longest time.

Well I shot with my nifty fifty for the whole night, the room was not lit to bad. I love how the T4i can shoot in a redonkulos high ISO and still keep a lot of the quality. I did not use my flash much as I was trying to be stealth. These are all hand held shots, no tripods. I shot in RAW and actually forced myself to do some editing with the brightness/contrast and WB Some of my best. ![]() IMG_0583 by jblaggy, on Flickr ![]() IMG_0592 by jblaggy, on Flickr ![]() IMG_0564 by jblaggy, on Flickr ![]() IMG_0555 by jblaggy, on Flickr ![]() IMG_0559 by jblaggy, on Flickr ![]() IMG_0597 by jblaggy, on Flickr ![]() IMG_0573 by jblaggy, on Flickr

Nice job! What shutter speeds were you using? Did you use the 2 second timer? |
