Body - Rattle Noise From Under Vehicle

Bulletin No.: 08-08-59-002
Date: July 18, 2008

TECHNICAL
Subject:
Rattle, Noise from Inside Vehicle (Secure Wire Harness Connector by ABS Brake Line) Models:
2006-2008 Chevrolet Colorado
2006-2008 GMC Canyon Condition
Some customers may comment on a rattle, noise from under the vehicle.

Cause
This may be caused by interaction between the connector and the ABS brake line under the hood. The connector rosebud may not be fully seated to the body.

The figure above shows the location of the connector. Note that the connector rosebud (1) is out of place. In most cases, the connector will be partially seated, causing a possible interaction between the connector and the ABS brake line. Correction
Technicians are to fully seat the connector in place and verify that there is clearance between the connector and brake line to avoid future contact.

Body - Wind Noise/Whistling From Vehicle Front

Bulletin No.: 07-08-58-003
Date: October 09, 2007

TECHNICAL
Subject:
Windnoise or High Pitched Whistle Noise Heard from Front of Vehicle While Driving at Highway Speeds (Apply Adhesive Shim Stock) Models:
2004 - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
2004 - 2008 GMC Canyon Condition
Some customers may comment on a windnoise or high pitched whistle noise heard from the front of the vehicle while driving at highway speeds.

Cause
This condition may be caused by a rush of air flowing over the front grille into a gap found in the lower portion of the front park turn signal lamp housing and lens.
Correction

Image

Use masking tape to tape off the gap (1) between the grille and the lower left and right park turn signal lens. Road test the vehicle and determine the source of the windnoise.
If the park turn signal lamp is not the source of the windnoise, continue to diagnose and repair the windnoise. Refer to Interior and Exterior Windnoise in SI.
If the windnoise is eliminated, return to the shop and proceed to Step 2.
Open the hood.

Image

Disconnect the front park turn signal lamp electrical connector (1) from the front wiring harness connector. Then remove the lamp assembly by using a screwdriver to release the outboard retaining clip (2) from the front inner fender.
Place the park turn signal lamp assembly with the bottom side up on a work bench.

Image

Clean the center edge (1) of the park turn signal lamp where the housing meets the lens with denatured alcohol.
Cut a piece of Kent Automotive(R) Adhesive Shim Stock, P/N 46480 or equivalent to 6 mm (1/4 in) width by 47 cm (18-1/2 in) length.

Image

Apply the adhesive shim stock (1) to the bottom side of the park turn signal lamp around the entire center edge where the housing meets the lens.

Image

Install the park turn signal lamp to the vehicle by inserting the two retaining tabs (1) toward the center of the grille assembly. Then seat the park turn signal lamp outboard retaining clip by pushing the lamp assembly back into the front inner fender. Connect the park turn signal lamp electrical connector to the front wiring harness connector.
Repeat steps 29 for the opposite front park turn signal lamp.
Close the hood.
Verify that the condition is fixed.

I was hearing a noise behind my glove box. It was the A/C lines that are mounted on the inside of the passenger side fender and a plastic clip that mounted the ABS line on the fire wall.
I put a dab of silicone rubber and my truck is now squeak free!

mine is the black trim piece that goes over the gauge cluster. It rubs against the gray piece it connects to. If I hit it just right it stops for awhile then comes back... I guess I could put silicon on that too and if I ever have to take it apart it wont be hard to break... hmmm

The only real wind noise that I have, and annoys my wife more than me is the seal on the passenger front door. Only on the highway though.
