| Custom Title Garnered | Drag Racing Techniques. I'll be heading to the track next friday though and I'd like to know what others do for optimum performance. I've never played with this thing in that aspect, it's always just been a driver. Now that I have these performance mods on, I feel like I owe it to the truck to see what she'll do now! LOL So what are your Launch Techniques? What RPM's do you launch it at? How hard do you stab it so that it hooks but doesn't blow the tires off? Play with the tire pressure any? etc.....

| Re: Drag Racing Techniques. 1-Doing a massive burnout on radials doesnt really do anything as far as super heatin them. spin them enough to clean any dirt, dust, small rocks etc. and get a little heat. 2- Max your tire pressure on the front and dont deflate the back much, rolls easier. 3- Run w/ only drls turned on at night. less load on alternator= less load on engine! All these things may only add up to a tenth or two, but its better than nothing

![]() When your not running it keep the truck off. I turn off my T/C, like said before avoid the water box, do a small burn out just to clean your tire(s) if you feel like it. I pre-load at around 1500-2000 RPMS. You can completely remove the air filter if you'd like. That could free up a little power. Lets see what else, tire pressure is important. If its 1/4 mile you dont wanna drop in tire pressure too much. You might actually wanna go up a little to give you more top end momentum effect. If its 1/8 mile you can keep the front at w/e psi you drive at and drop some in the rear to get a better launch. Do you have posi?

| Custom Title Garnered | Re: Drag Racing Techniques. Yea, I know all the basics of drag racing. I've done it dozens and dozens of times with other vehicles, just never with a colorado. And I'm pretty sure I don't have posi. I wanted it though.....

| Custom Title Garnered | Re: Drag Racing Techniques. That's what I'm worried about, the launch. You get all pumped up to run sitting there in the staging lanes and then you biff the launch!! Now you gotta play the waiting game till you can run again... lol

Only thing you'll need to learn is getting low reaction times and when to let off the brake and go full throttle.

| Custom Title Garnered | Re: Drag Racing Techniques. Well then how am I gonna learn if I'm supposed to just head home after I biff a launch there Mr. Force?? You kind of contradict yourself. lol

![]() Oh and how's this sound... press the gas down when the light goes green, better yet do it on the third yellow light. That better?

| Nation Elite | Re: Drag Racing Techniques. It works on dropping R/T's but honestly if you aren't ready to launch when the light goes green don't go til your ready. Like skizzo said R/T's aren't shit compared to E/T's so just do what you think will make the truck go quickest down the track. If anything practice launching from stop signs... ![]() Also... I've tried shifting the truck before 1-2 but honestly it's better to just let the truck do it on its own and just focus on the launch and keeping straight down the road. But i've got a jet servo in my trans so I dunno how it shifts normally anymore. |
