Re: Headers

So my headers are on the way. I thought they were gonna be Cat Back. But it's saying I need to cut before my cats. Which means I'll be either going Catless or using stock cats with these Headers. Is that gonna effect the amount of power I should be receiving with these? Or should I look into getting some High Flow cats?

Also, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I believe there is a good chance the CEL will come on since you are eliminating the pre-cats and the O2 sensor that checks their function won't be happy. I think I heard it's hit/miss though, and a tune can fix it.

Re: Headers

Would love to hear the answer to these questions. I'm thinking I'm going to sneak in headers & custom exhaust this summer... followed by a tune. Pre-/post-cat was something I was starting to 'research'.

Re: Headers

Ok. Well. The Headers came today. And I'm just confused on how many plugs is going in these. lol The "instructions" say to cut before the cats. Ok. Well there is a plug in each cat. So That's two. And these headers came with 4 holes for plugs. So I'm gonna have 6 plugs??? I bought a WB2 sensor which will be put in. So I can finish my tuning. But what's with all these O2 bungs?

Re: Headers

Ok. Haha I got it. 4 cats. First set is being deleted. The second set is factory high flow. The first set of bungs are for the O2 sensors that are being taken out of the first set of cats that are eliminated. The second set of bungs are for my new WB2 sensors that will be put in. The headers will now connect to the second set of cats that are staying. Which I'm sure need to be spaced out. So no codes will be set off. Not to mention it will be tuned afterward anyways.

Now. I should still be able to pass admissions. Correct?

Re: Headers

Ok. That's good to hear. So everything I said was correct. Right? The set up was right? All I need is two "Spark plug non foulers?" Something like that.

Re: Headers

Yep.. hahaha I cut mine off too and put a SLP resonator in it's place. When I made it duel exhaust. Made it sound real nice. I can't wait to put these headers on and remove the first 2 cats.

Haha. I get complimented on how nice my truck sounds EVERY day. Most cannot believe it when I tell them its stock. I think it has something to do with where the Y pipe comes together into 3 inch and then I reduced it back down to 2 and half inch so it has a little cackle. Hehe.

Re: Headers

This is correct! Lol They went in fine and fit. But the truck when breaking and definitely in reverse. It was vibrating REALLY bad. I thought something was wrong. But it's hitting the floor of the truck. It's either I take all that apart to dent it or I hammer in the floor a bit to make it clear.

Re: Headers

Also. The check engine light went on even with the Foulers on. I got another set to space it away a bit more. But my friend suggested. Plugging the back 2 sensor bungs. And relocating those two o2 sensors behind the cats. It will look stock and I could probably get a good reading and not need the spacer foulers.

Oh yea and P.S. Those clamps are pieces of shit. I had to order 4 new ones from summit racing. Almost $100 for clamps. The right ones that will actually work.

Re: Headers

Yeah those clamps they send are garbage I busted the first one I tried and it did not even think of squeezing the pipe and I also bought the band clamps that lap over both pipes

Re: Headers

I'll be putting up pictures soon. Some got deleted or didn't save for some stupid reason. Took 5 hours. I would think next time around it would be faster if I ever needed to change or help someone with theirs. But I'm gonna have to take down the passanger side since it's vibrating against the floor of the truck. I'm gonna have to Dent it in a bit to clear. Definitely a lesson learned. I'll take pictures of all that so the next person hopefully doesn't make the same mistake.

Still need to relocat the sensors. Just need to find extended sensors to relocate them behind the cats before the Y pipe. And also put in my WB2 sonsor after the Y and mount my LCD screen. Also need to order those Clamps from Summit Racing since the clamps they send are fucking terrible.
