I just spoke with 4WheelParts about getting the factory air filter replaced with the K&N unit.

He called K&N about it and was told there was a minor difference between the '07 and '08, so K&N didn't have an application for my new truck.

Can anyone here confirm a difference between them?
Anybody already get a part for their '08? what is it? the part #?I really only want to change the filter, not put on a whole new intake set-up.

You should be able to take some mesurements and order a k&n filter that will fit. Mesure the inlet and the max width and length and then look for one on k&n site.

Our 2008's have a flat panel filter. Not the cylinder type as previous years have.

Excellent. I think I like that better...
I'll take the filter out and measure it, as mentioned, and go from there.

Now, I have another question.
Is it preferable to run a dry filter as opposed to the K&N's oiled version?
I am a rookie with the 21st Century, even late 20th Century technology. What I am wondering about is contaminating electrical stuff with oily gunk!
Is that a concern?

I would not worry about using a K&N oiled filter. I never had any problems with them... :high5:

just dont over oil the filter, and youll be fine.. personally i like the idea of the dry

i like the dry one never had any probs...but if you dont over oil your filter it shouldnt matter
