Hello, I have an I-5 with 4L60E with 85K miles on the odometer.
I was removing the battery a while back and felt like I got a mild shock from wires that should have been grounds. I tested the battery while in the truck with a voltimeter and saw that the battery is not getting anything from the alternator. It went from 12v to 10v and dropping as I tested.
I have since cleaned the ground and the connections. I checked the wires on the alternator. I cleaned those as well.
The truck has a battery message that comes up on the dash/information center.
I have not used a code reader. I need to buy one.
I have seen alternator rebuild kits and electronic regulator bits online.
I have seen rebuilt alternatives as well.
Any recommendations?
The battery is still not taking charge so the truck is not going anywhere.

Happens that way sometime. Simple, easy repair turns into a black hole that just sucks in all the money.
