I’ve got a 2004 reg cab Colorado with the 2.8 & 5 speed transmission. A few months ago I hit a pretty deep pothole and the truck is lowered so it didn’t take it nicely, immediately after my radio started skipping out, and aside from that everything else seemed fine until a couple days later I started getting random gauge lights going on and off like abs, battery and other things, the truck was still running fine up to this point until a couple days after that it shutoff and left me stranded in a parking lot so I had it towed back home and it sat for 3 months. After replacing my battery and testing my alternator they both checked out So I started looking into other things and learned about the splice pack ground connections under the hood and how much of an issue they were. I’m not a mechanic by any means so I had my friend who works at a auto accessory shop so he’s familiar with wiring and electrical, follow a post I found on here about deleting the splice packs and make new ground connections under the hood. That only took about an hour or 2 an when he was done the truck started right up and seemed fine until the battery light came back on and after a few days I went to start it and it was clicking again… I’m kinda clueless at this point but would love to get the truck running again. Any help is appreciated or if you have any questions please let me know !

Welcome to the Nation.

What is the voltage reading at the battery? Have you tried jump starting it?
Im not sure what it was reading i had taken it out and tested it at auto zone before i spent the money on a new one and the employee told me it was fine i just don't remember what the voltage was. i have not tried jump starting it, i charge the battery for a few hours and then the truck usually will start and drive for a few days until the battery drains again.

Okay, it appears that the starting system is functioning as it should. Sounds like you have a parasitic draw on the battery. To tell for sure, disconnect the battery when you are finished operating the truck each day. If the truck starts again each time the battery is reconnected it indicates something is using battery voltage when the truck off and 'asleep'.

Search "papasitic draw" on You Tube.
