Hey guys, this will hopefully be the start to my build thread in an attempt to keep me motivated. I just bought a 2005 Crewcab 4x4 Colorado a couple months ago. I have big plans for it already.

I picked it up for 4K and then gave it a good cleaning. The day after I bought it, I found a 4" lift for $250 at the salvage yard so I put that on along with some cheap 35" tires and did a spring over conversion on the rear. I Also got a good deal on a toolbox from Autozone so I installed that as well. That brings us up to speed for the current mods from the last couple months.

In the mean time, I have been collecting parts for a v8 swap. So far I have bought a

-6.0 that will be pulled from my 4runner with the LSA supercharger
-6L80e out of a 2010 Tahoe
-Northwest fab Billet dual transfercase box
-Chevy NP205 transfercase
-Ford 9" rear axle
-Ford Superduty 1350 CV driveshafts
-Colorado V8 Manifolds
-ZL1 Camaro Wiring Harness
-2012 Malibu Foor shifter
-I machined an adapter for the 8 bolt NP205 to the 6 bolt pattern
-E67 ECM

Cleaned up and lift installed:

Body mount cut to clear 35's:

Crazy build, the truck looks awesome, engine bay honestly looks factory!!
Definitely sending this to dad, he has a ZL1 and likes the Colorados!
Thanks haha
Awesome build! Very nice finished project with nice attention to detail. Congrats on a great project!

Thanks! It is far from finished though! The next stage will be custom IFS front suspension and convert the rear axle to full floating and a custom front IFS differential

I would love that, but it's more than I want to spend. with the stub shafts it's like $2400. Plus then I would have to move my control arm mounting points in board to work with the width of that housing. I'm thinking more along the lines of what they did here with a custom Dana 44 IFS diff.
What a great job!! Let's see some videos, truck looks amazing, love the mechine work on the t-case adapter!! Wish I had a supercharger:)
Always felt it was kinda weird mating old tech to new tech, but I think the 205 gets a pass. Just can't beat that thing. Did you flash a new file into the BCM? Pretty sure it sets a U code when the TCCM drops off the bus... Either you deal with the 'service 4wd' coming up constantly in the cluster or you put different software in the BCM lol.

All the "service 4wd" errors went away when I unplugged the 4wd control module! I'm pretty sure the BCM just thinks it is a 2wd now haha.

I finished up building a winch plate that I designed. I drew it up in CAD and had it cut out and bent and then I welded it up.

I just finished installing the Steering rack mounts from Mayhem Metal works and I am working on installing an E-locker from a H3. The rack mount looks great and included everything needed. I would recommend the kit. I was able to install it, without unhooking the power steering lines, but my lines are custom so I don't know if that is normally possible.

I bought a set of 38" goodyear MTR tires for a great deal that I couldn't pass up. That means I get to make them fit somehow. The first two pictures are with a spare 38" toyo MT. Of course then the 38" goodyear was actually bigger.

Initial test fit with the torsion bar released and sitting on the bumpstop.

After cutting the firewall and the front bumper:

And with the 38" MTR" Ended up having to trim a little off the headlight housing haha.

I still need to patch the firewall and then do it all over again on the drivers side.

Also, while my front diff was out, it was a good time to test fit a dana 44 housing for a custom IFS differential.

The low pinion Dana 44 fit really nice. A lot better than the high pinion 44 that I tried first.

Love the winch, love the 38's more. You'll find a way to make them work.
Will a 6L80E/90E fit in a stock Colly
trans tunnel ?

Absolutely. Lots of room
Awesome!!!

I wanna see better pics of the firewall cutting you did, and also the lower fender mount.
what PCM./BCM did you use ? what OS did you use
to get the 6L80E to work ?

I thought the PCM was a 2010 v8 Colorado E67 PCM but turns out it is a 2010 3.7 Colorado PCM that I flashed to the v8 OS and it somehow worked. I think the serial number in the PCM is corrupted now but it is working. BCM is stock 2005 Colorado. All that really needs done is to wire up the T43 TCM to the E67. I'm guessing similar to how the T42 is wired up, but the wires go to the Transmission since the TCM is in the valvebody.

I still need to seam seal everything and paint it and redrill the lower mounting hole for the fender.
