There should be an id, either etched or on a decal, on the lower left side of the block or at the back left end of the camshaft cover. The First digit will be a T (build location, Tonawanda). The next two digits designate the build year. The following three digits are the Julian Date.

Not sure of other visual references. Hopefully one of the guys will drop by with some additional info.

Why do you assume no one is willing or has the time? Maybe no one, and that includes you, has the answer to your question. Were you expecting all of the Members to come by to tell you they don't know?

seems odd no 1 has time to reply or has some kind of input. Also yes, I would assume people would converse as a community and say they don’t know how to decipher the year when the engine is out of car.
