Made some progress this weekend. Installed the Axis coolant temp sensor kit, 200 amp alternator (up from 120 amp), Cummins wiring bulk head in the firewall, block heater, turbo down pipe, Cummins
accelerator pedal and mid mount bracket. I welded up a bracket for the accelerator pedal to utilize the factory mounting studs. The mid mount bracket moves the AC compressor from the bottom to the middle. The power steering pump moves to the bottom.

Looks clean. Can’t wait to see it. Any reason you’re going with the 2.8 though?
Couple of reasons. Wanted to do something different than the LS swap. Cummins couldn’t have made it easier with this crate motor. It’s almost plug and play.

Just realized I lost my update text when uploading the pictures. Yes, I am going to build some sort of skid plate to protect it. There is a sensor plug that goes in the bottom of the filter that I am not comfortable leaving exposed.

Had a set back on the Dana 300, tight tolerances and my ignorance were the cause.

Had a slight gap, thought it was tight tolerances between the advance adapter and the Dana 300. Cranked down the bolts a little more and heard a pop, everything looked like it seated….great…then I saw gear oil coming out of the Dana 300 :-(

I cracked the case and rear output shaft on the Dana 300.

The directions did not say that I had to shorten the output spline on the 6l80e.

This is why I went with this kit over the Novak.

Spoke to Advance adapters to confirm.

This is the 3rd case of it occurring so they will be changing their directions and now recommend taking the lip off of 6l80e output spline.

I ordered a replacement Dana 300…$600 mistake.

That’s a pain in the butt.

I guess I got lucky and didn’t need to cut my transmission output shaft.

I assume the output shaft and transmission internals were not damaged?

I’d think a portable band saw with a good blade plus a steady hand would make short work of the output shaft.

Love seeing the updates to this build. Definitely one of the best!

Still waiting on my replacement Dana 300 to come in. Been doing lots of little project things in the meantime.

Got the decals installed

Fuel filter and return line complete. I used a fuel pump and looped the line to test both the fuel line and return.

Diesel fuel cap installed

Power steering reservoir bracket made and installed

Murphy gauge (for Cummins ECU) EGT, Boost and secondary fuel gauge installed. The secondary gauge will be for an auxiliary fuel tank the will be installed where the spare tire was located.

Everything appears to be coming together clean. 👍🏻 When you see the small things like your gas cap get in place it makes it seem real.
Definitely my favorite build!

I’m honestly just as excited to see you tackle and document your SAS so I can copy it. 😏 I’ve been wrenching on my heap a lot lately but nowhere close to your level.

@%1; any tips on the snorkel install? Instructions are sparse. What worries is the template doesn’t line up with the left of fender, see pic below, might because of the fender flare.
