Had a break in the rain. Utilized the opportunity to push the truck out of the garage and clean up a bit. Amazing how much grime you can accumulate under a project! Also hung some more wall art car parts. Got my heavy duty leaf springs in to cure the rear end sag. Will be installing next week.

I’ve looked at those very springs as well. I’d be interested to know how the work out. I prolonged the life of my factory leafs with an AAL but time has taken its toll.

I planned to replace mine during my summer camping hiatus.

Same here, AAL helped for a while but with the added weight of the shell, bumper and tire carrier, it and the springs are shot.

These are the 1600 capacity ones, will take some before and after shots to show the ride height difference.

I am glad you guys called my attention to this thread! You will have the first Cummins powered 355 that I am aware of at least. If I didn't already have a V8 model I would be tempted to try something like this someday. Something that I have been wanting to do is to take my 2010 Suburban to a local shop called Duraburb. They will take a customer supplied Suburban, buy a similar model year General Motors HD truck with the Duramax and swap drive trains. They do such a good job that it looks so stock that they have confused many GM dealership technicians. One of the custom tunes available results in 1,000 ft lbs. of torque and 1,000 hp. I would be able to tow pretty much anything I wanted to with that setup.
I am very interested in watching your build.

I believe there is a Cummins 4bt H3 conversion still running around, he documented the install very well and I was able to use some of his tips and tricks for my install.

I have seen a couple of Duraburb conversions and you are right, they look and operate like it came out of the factory.

I sent you a PM with a question on your snorkel install.

@%1; any tips on the snorkel install? Instructions are sparse. What worries is the template doesn’t line up with the left of fender, see pic below, might because of the fender flare.

What snorkel kit are you trying to use? badlands is working on a 355-specific kit right now and will be doing a group buy hopefully this spring yet.

Yep, I have the same one, made for an Isuzu D-Max but a perfect fit on a 355. I echo what WV Native said, the functionality and fit are spot-on but the looks leave something to be desired. I like the looks of the ARB Safari Snorkel better but could not get a 355 (or Isuzu) specific one (only universal fit, and I think we all know that would likely fit nothing well) and the ARB was significantly higher cost.
@Tnoon758 that is a good looking install, any issues? How did the fender flare trimming turn out? Are you going to use the OEM air box or do you have something else in mind?

@%1; no issues other than I trimmed a little extra in one spot. You were correct in that you have to be patient in the trimming of the fender flare and go little by little. I am going to seal between the fender flare and snorkel so you shouldn’t see my mistake. You were also correct on that top nut, it is a booger to get started. Thanks again for your tips, they really helped.

I plan on utilizing the oem air box as I am trying to keep it looking as factory of an install as possible. The location of it is perfect for the Cummins intake on the motor.

That should make the snorkel line up with the air box perfectly. If I remember correctly, that snorkel kit is for the diesel Isuzu D-Max anyway.

That one is right on the verge of impossible......but not quite impossible. It makes you go quite deep into your book of "Sailors Words and Phrases". :ROFLMAO:

What did you do to mate the snorkel to the air box, the squarish piece the goes from the air box to the inner fender doesn’t fit together.

I kind of screwed myself a few years ago when I installed the Air Doc cold air intake. I replaced that squarish piece with one that had the same diameter opening as the Air Doc to remove that as a choke point in the airflow. To attach the air box to the snorkel I went back to Lowe's and picked up a rectangular to round PVC transition that was close, but not quite the right size. I then used a heat gun to shape the plastic to fit and used a lot of silicone to seal it because I got a little too frisky with the heat gun. When using the heat gun, be very careful as the plastic of the air box is thin and melts easily.
