So this is my first post, and i'm really looking forward to getting some opinions and advice on my problem. My 4x4 isn't engaging, but my drive shaft is spinning and the differential sounds fine. Took out the actuator to see if it was working properly, and it seems to extend upon engaging the 4x4. So I went about taking out the shift housing, (i'll skip the hours of work just doing that) and once it was out with the axle shaft and tube, I took it apart. Now i'm not sure what to look for, however, I did find small metal fragments in the housing. It doesn't look like they came from any of the bearings or gears, so I've no idea where they came from. Any ideas on what to look for?
