Hello Guys,

I hope this is the right place for this I did a lot of searching to hopefully find similar issues.

The problem I'm having is any time one of my tires breaks free and starts to spin while I'm taking a turn, like say I'm leaving a neighborhood and i need to get to speed quickly and i turn on by the time I'm on the road and I straighten my tires out i get a nasty pull to the right. the only way to correct it is to take small slow turn in both directions like a slalom.

I think its probably due to a possible bad Diff not working correctly or to a possible bad alignment, but once i correct the pull issue the truck drives straight as an arrow at any speeds and there is no vibration or anything. I'm just so lost on this issues which seemed to start up roughly around a month ago when all the snow started happening.


I'm running stock suspension, I even removed my helper springs to see if that would help. nope

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have a g80 locker it is it engaging then sticking on you.

Cheap tires like break loose because of the compound in the tires....they are hard and don't stick.

Also, your in Indy....its cold, your tires are cold.......of course they will spin

If your steering around corners/curves is normal unless the rear tires break free then your alignment should be fine (enough). If during normal driving you go around corners and the steering doesn't want to return normally then you have steering problems.

Ok, its a stock diff, but I only have hard pulls when my tires slip and I'm taking a turn. then to fix i have to dart left and right. Almost like the something isn't releasing, I don't know much about rear diffs.

Do you know if you have a G80 locking diff? Do you have a Z71?

Easier test open your glove box and look for the build code g80 on the sticker

to stop tire spin let off gas pedal.

Traction contol, if your truck has it, applies braking to the wheel that spins. Turn it off and see if the condition still exists.

I was going to mention the G80 on the glove box but forgot if that was an RPO code. haha

My truck has the g80 and was doing something alot like that. But that was while I had a 31" tire on one side and oem spare on the other side. Spin the tires on dirt, g80 locks up, get on pavement, truck acts all weird and pulls to the sides. I had to rotate the tires and put the spare up from to solve it. It was like the diff was locking, but couldn't unlock till I pulled the truck in reverse and forward again

Good call.
Nice reminder that two differently sizes tires can't be used on an axle with any type of locking devices.

Its not a z71 and its doing exactly what you saying about the Spare tire, but both tires are the same size. Its not a g80 locker and the truck has no traction control. I'm going to get the truck aligned this week and see if that helps, if not im going to take it to a shop and have them look at the diff and axels.

I don't see how an alignment will help. The rear axle is solid, and therefore can't be aligned. I would suggest changing the fluid in it rear diff.

Well, an alignment will still make sure that the front is lined up right. So it wont hurt anything.

But a diff fluid change is a good idea too.

Or wait til the truck shifts into second before you gun it?

I have no problems driving my lowered and tuned truck in the snow :shrug:
