Drilled are no good. They can crack under stress and heat.

You need dimpled and slotted if you're going that route.

Just the zinc by itself likes to turn white and look bad fairly shortly when it gets wet. My understanding is the zinc provides the protection (kinda like a thin galvanize coating) and the dichromate protects the zinc.

Drilled rotors under some situations develop small stress fractures but you have to look close to see them. Dimpled is better for a street vehicle in the long run. Since you are considering new rotors you must be doing a brake job. Why not take this time to do the 2009+ upgrade you will love the superior stopping you will have if you need it.

I would like to do the upgrade to the front and rear but I can't afford all that and the rotors don't seem to be that expensive

Rock auto has the calipers and the bracket for $37.00 each $50 core. I read somewhere a while back that rockauto would accept the 08 and older as a core. And dust shields were cheap on gmpartsdirect. The only reaso I haven't done it is stock 15s
