My drivers side windshield washer nozzle broke off and nothing pumps out of that side anymore. How hard is that to fix and how can I fix it without taking it to the dealer?
It shouldn't be difficult to fix. Having said that, I have no way of knowing your mechanical skills or what is in your tool box You will need to remove the wiper arms and the cowl panel (the plastic part that the nozzles are mounted in). The nozzle part number is 20820073 and the Dealer will want $15.92 for one. If you calculate shipping, you probably won't get it much cheaper online.
Once you remove the wiper arms there are a few plastic push pins and some clips. Its a pretty straight forward job. Not worth the dealer hassle......very much a 1 beer DIY job
Remove the wiper arm nut (2) from the wiper arm (1).
Using a J 39637 or equivalent, remove the wiper arm from the wiper arm pivot shaft if the wiper arm fails to release from the pivot shaft with a rocking motion.
Release the wiper arm blade (2) from the wiper arm (1).
Clean the pivot shaft knurls (1) with a soft wire brush.
Installation Procedure
Install the wiper arm blade (2) to the new wiper arm (1).
Lift the wiper blade off the windshield and install the wiper arm (1) to the wiper arm pivot shaft (2).
Align the tip of the wiper blade with the round dot in the blackout area of the windshield.
For the passenger side blade (2), ensure the wiper blade tip is held in position to the
alignment dot (1) on the windshield.
For the driver side blade (2), ensure the wiper blade tip is held in position to the alignment dot (1) on the windshield.
Holding the wiper blade to the windshield dot, install the wiper arm nut.
Continue holding the wiper blade in position while tightening the nut.
Tighten the wiper arm nut to 33-38 N·m (24-28 lb ft).
Replaced the nozzle the other day. No problems at all, didn't even take anything off. Just popped a few clips near the nozzle and there was plenty of play in the plastic shroud to lift it up and connect the new nozzle to the hose.
