I've finally got a bead on a used camper shell, after months of lurking around craigslist. I currently have a Truxedo roll-up tonneau cover. I'm wondering if I do get the shell, can I just use the clamps from my current cover to secure the shell? They look pretty much the same as the c-clamp-style used on shells, so I think it'll be ok, but I'm not sure. Basically it needs to work good enough to get it home, so that I can then do a proper install, with new weather stripping and such.

I don't see why you couldn't. You could also just get a few small C-clamps, I actually broke my clamps that came with my tonneau and I'm just using small c-clamps from harbor freight to hold it on. They were like 4$ or something like that.
