I assume you mean the bottom rounded section...

That is to help clear the spare tire.

Yep,I wondered that to when I first got mine.Cant see it when mounted.unless you get down on your hands and knees.

Hahaha i just went and put it against ny truck and seen that hahhaha cool they do that but spare tires goin so wish they had the option to buy it straight or the cut out for tire
