Had my truck aligned today and they disconnected my battery as usual. Now my driver window is down and will not operate along with the power door locks. Annnd its raining. luckily I made it to my house with no rain and its under an awning. Ive tried every google trick I could find to reset/fix the problem. Its currently sitting with the battery unhooked in hopes of resetting the bcm. Somebody please help!

Well, you didn't say what you tried aside from the battery disconnect which was going to be my suggestion.

So see if that works first. Let it sit for an hour if you have the time.

Also, why is it normal to break a battery connection for a wheel alignment?

Almost every time I disconnect my battery something fails and it requires me to disconnect/reconnect (sometime two more times) before the electrics function properly.
Thanks that's currently the one I'm trying. Guess I just need more patience. I even disco the radio fuse along with the power lock fuse. Just sucks not knowing if it will work as I may have to leave my window down overnight and possibly tomorrow while I'm at work.
I have no idea, im assuming its a safety thing when its on the rack. This is the first time anything has been wrong with my truck at all. Just sucks having to reprogram my aftermarket alarm to my prefs and reset the radio and all that stuff. Ill make it CLEAR next time NOT to disco the battery lol

My truck has done this two times now, and the only thing that has ever worked for me is to just drive the truck. After about 10 to 15 minutes the problem will just go away.Disconnecting the battery and all of that has never worked for me.
I had the same sort of issue as well. Did some work on the truck with the battery disconnected and when I reconnected the battery the locks and windows weren't working, after driving around for a bit they gradually started working again after about 15 mins.
Ive tried everything guys, unhooking both battery cables. disconnecting bcm for over an hour, disconnecting window and lock switch itself, drove truck for 30 mins, and nothing. Passenger window works fine with either switch. im just gonna disconnect the negative terminal overnight and drive my jeep tomorrow and let this pos sit for a while and hook everything back up tomorrow after work. If that don't work I guess ill call the dealer and see what they know.
So one of the guys on the fb page said to hook everything up as normal and to only disconnect the battery terminals and wait two hours. After two hours hook up the positive cable to the battery and then touch the negative to the positive post for ten seconds. Thankfully this worked and everything has been set back to normal. Thanks for all the help. Maybe this will help someone in the future.
Glad to see you got 'er fixed...funny how we have to perform some method of Voodoo electronic magic to get things working after battery disconnect.

Knock on wood (knock...knock) I've never had issues...yet. Getting ready to swap radio head unit so...could be upcoming. ;)
Yea no kidding on the voodoo magic lol.
Touching the terminals together will force a drain on the BCM, just like leaving it disconnected for an extended period of time.

Weird it didn't work with the long disconnect. But happy it's functioning properly now.
Having had this happen once, if the battery must be disconnected I always raise the windows first.
Mine stayed screwed-up three days.

I tried the long disconnect AND touching the terminals together when I had the issue last year (battery going bad) and neither helped. It finally just "healed" itself after several hours. I can't recall how long it was now, but it was under 24 hrs.

Our trucks just don't react well to electrical disruption. My truck still had the battery it came from the factory with . . . for all I know getting the battery replaced might have been the first time the truck suffered a total electrical disconnect since it "woke up" on the assembly line, lol
Hey guys I have an 04 z71 colorado and I have sorta the same problem except it's just my drivers window that operates intermittently. after driving 10-15 mins it fixes itself. Could this be same problem?
I don't think that you have the same problem as the others. Their windows weren't operating intermittently. Check the ground (small black box) mounted on the fender wall aft of the battery. How old is your battery?
**** deleted, my mistake ***
Typically, Intermittent electrical issues are the result of a a loose electrical connection or a broken wire.
I'm not sure how old the battery is, I just bought the truck this past November. First week of December the wiring harness of the heat shorted out I had the dealer fix that but the window has been doing this since I bought it.
Thanks guys I'll check all the connections and run by and get the battery tested.
